Rolex cosmograph Daytona stainless steel
Discussion
Does anyone know how easy it is to get hold a new one of these from an AD? I've read about long waiting lists but wondered how real these really are. I've only spoken to one AD so far who told me that I'd need to buy another Rolex model from them first before I'd be able to get on their list. As I don't want any other model he can forget that....
Thanks in advance for any help

I waited about 6 months and had bought from the AD I have previously purchased a couple of watches from, but I am sure there are plenty of dealers who will sell as your first watch. There is a wait list and the general quoted times are up to 2 years but I think people rarely wait that long. Many people will drop off the list when time comes to actually had over the cash.
Good watch - white dial for me, much prefer over the black.

As Andy says, the new one is coming out soon so I'd hang fire until thats out or at least get your name on that list.
I'm lucky that I live in a country where the Daytona is in ample supply, when I bought mine I was given the option of the one in the window or a 10 day wait for a "fresh" one.
I expect I'll do the same for the new one although it would be nice to buy in the UK at christmas and get the tax back, trouble would be sourcing one!

Rolex and the AD's are suggesting the new versions will be massively over subscribed.
The waiting lists are long and the dealers expecting only a few models per year (I'm hearing of 6 to 12 per shop) for the next couple of years at least.
Possibly being over-hyped, but I'm not holding my breath despite being "on the list" at 3 AD's

thanks Racea. I tried MAppin & Webb in Manchester. Will need to try my local AD - Prestons in Wilmslow.
Rodney Banks-Lyon in Lancaster is only up the road. No longer Rolex AD but very helpful and knows the way the system work: https://www.bankslyon.co.uk Has helped me out in the past. PJ S said:
I spoke with a local AD last week and was told they had been informed by Rolex that they’d only be getting half of what they received in previous years.
Personally, I’d suggest looking at a pre-owned Vacheron Constantin Overseas 49150 instead.
Great watch, but quite different, it's bigger at 42mm and a fair bit thicker, integrated bracelet, much heavier and higher servicing costs. Also don't hold their value as well.Personally, I’d suggest looking at a pre-owned Vacheron Constantin Overseas 49150 instead.
I sold my earlier 40mm version and a 39mm APROC to fund a Daytona, and some pocket change.
Again, great watch, for me though it was wow to look at, but a bit meh on the wrist, so replaced it with a PAM
I`m assuming that this is ONLY about getting one ONLY via a UK AD?
Seems the non authorised dealers aren`t asking what they used to for unworn "stickered" Daytonas (the new one will be a totally different story)
I think with some ADs it`s about the relationship you have with them rather than being in a queue, I think some keep watches aside for their most important customers!
Important customer asks whether they have this or that, answer is yes, important customer comes back again and again and rarely needs to call anyone else because they always get what he or she wants and AD never has to discount because the fact that they even have it is enough!

I got mine in September last year from Goldsmiths Watford, I'd waited 14 months. A friend saw mine and placed an order last October and was offered a white face last month, apparently they're not as popular.
Funny thing is I've yet to wear mine, lovely watch but the waiting and the wanting was better than the having, watches, cars, women, they're all the same..

Funny that, as I was told the white dial (in the west) is more popular, and the back dial is more popular in the Far East bobbybee said:

I actually wanted the white dial one until I tried it on then I immediately favoured the black dial. I am after the new white face one though and cant see myself changing my mind.Mansells Tash said:
