Price guide for a 550 and dealer guide please
Discussion
I am looking to buy a used 550 and need to get a feel for prices.
I am driving a 550 this weekend at Dick Lovett in Swindon, a silver 2000 model that is up for 68,000.
Can you guys let me know if this is a good price, a good dealer and if there are other dealers in the Berkshire area I should check.
Looked at Maranello but they seem way over the top in price.
Any help would be apreciated.

difficult to know on the price, it's all about condition, I bought mine from DL in November and I rate them, when doing the deal push them for a 2 year power warranty, it doesn't const them that much more over the one year item also you have to have a Tubi, too quiet without
give my regards to Paul Train

I am seeing Adrian at DL.
Since looking to main dealers the conditon all seems to be very good.
Do the Ferrari dealers goug you as bad as the Porsche dealers, silly question!
I dont mind dealers just need some help on how far I can push, some will not deal at all (Maranello) and others my budge quite a bit.
Is a budget of 64-65k realistic for a dealer 550? Would the go from 68 to 64, what are conditions like in the market right now?

I've just bought a 550 from Dick Lovett in Swindon and found them fine to deal with. I got what I thought was a sensible deal.
I expect you will find that they are selling the car on a sale or return basis on behalf of the real owner so you are negotiating about their margin, although there comes a point where they won't reduce their margin any more and the owner has to be contacted to see whether he'll accept any further reduction in the price since it will come out of his share.
Based on the comment from the broker with whom I've insured my 550 there seems to be quite a lot of demand at the moment because (a) they are good value for money and (b) the EVO article has sparked a lot of interest.
As for other dealers I don't know who the franchised dealers in your area are. I chose to buy from a franchised dealer because if anything does go wrong I believe that I'll get better back up than I would from a non-franchised specialist dealer. Also I know Lovett's as they are clients of ours and if I have a problem which I think isn't being addressed properly I know I can pick the phone up and speak to Peter Lovett.
Both Adrian and Paul at Dick Lovett are good to deal with.
Best of luck.

-- "Reduced Finance Rate"
Always, always, always ask what finance rate they're quoting you and always always always ask for a reduction.. they try it on as a matter of course in case your daft enough to go along with it.
Purely as an exercise I looked at financing my 360 Spider last year, after haggling I got the total repayable down by £12,000 JUST ON THE INTEREST RATE.. that was before I haggled on the price of the car.
