Nah... Its wooden CNC cut I think. Id have still been making it had I tried myself :-)

They are great fun to assemble... especially when you give yourself 175V electric shocks.

Did you need anything special? How fine a tip on the iron did you need?

Quite fine.... not sure without looking. I used a fine angled tip.

The only thing i would get is an appropriate IC Chip Holder...

It will stop you potentially cooking the IC chip if you are bit slow soldering.

Youll need a multimeter too, to check and adjust the voltage circuits.

I built one of these, with the clear acrylic case, recently:

Pretty straightforward, you need a fine point soldering iron and do follow the instructions where it tells you to test certain voltages.

I've built a couple of these from Tube Hobby. No case but they can be found easily enough.

We have around 20,000 Nixie tubes at work , my boss makes these in various options , we have some tubes around 10 inches tall down to little tiddlers .

It his hobby at one time we thought he was trying to corner the world market in the dam things..

He does sell kits some times for various types and designs. Although at the moment he's messing with other electronics.

Send me a PM and I can put you in touch

This has been sat for god knows how long behind my tv. Thought I would see if it still works. Made it in 2011. Still cool.
