I'm not overly impressed with the provider which hosts my web site & I'm considering a change. I'm fully aware of the implications of this - DNS changes, reloading and setting up the site etc, but my present provider have changed their servers twice in the last year and twice I've had to upload and configure my site afresh, and change my DNS pointers.. so a move wouldn't phase me at this stage.

My requirements are thus:
- IIS4/5
- Active Server Pages (Server-side VBScript is a must, so no dodgy Cobalt boxes running Chillisoft ASP!)
- Support for ODBC connections to MS Access database
- CDONTS (native support for sending email using ASP/VBScript)
- Multiple POP3 mailboxes, with catchall and redirection/forwarding
- Password protected folders
- Admin pages so I can manage my site
- Webmail (not essential, but nice)
- Online Website Stats Package
- 50Mb+ Storage
- insignificant bandwidth limitations (Gb/month)

So as you can see I'm not asking for much

It would be nice if they were in the Surrey/Berks/Hants area so I can kick their asses when they annoy me.

If it is not a rude question, how much are you paying for what you've got, and what space and traffic restrictions are on it.

We can help but we won't be cheap, however I know a man who might be able to do a deal for you, depends on what you are willing to pay.

Cheers

D.

www.eclipse.net.uk seem a useful bunch to me... currently hosting my site... but I have less requirements, just CGI and Perl shell access

..otherwise I hear good things about Claranet.. cheap too..

Cheers,
Matt.

The problem is, David, that I'm paying rock bottom money..

£70pa for 50Mb with the above facilities.. (plus £50 initial setup charge)

includes 1Gb traffic per month.

I am conidering going a little bit upmarket in price terms though. What I'd really like is to stick my own box in a datacentre, but the cost of that would be way beyond what's sensible for a personal webshite... (even with 1000 hits per day like mine gets..)

full spec is here: www.smartchoicenet.co.uk/windows/features.htm

My mate runs a web hosting company. From what I know they are pretty much the cheapest around. His site is www.34sp.com

Cool chappies but very professional with it.

I've used www.webfusion.co.uk quite a bit theres also gconnect.com and uk2.net - all reasonable but webfusions setup and admin is by far the best I've used.

While we're on the subject I'm looking for e-mail hosting for my company. Require 10+ POP 3 mailboxes mail redirection, web admin for above + unlimited aliases. Bandwith needs to be into the Gb per month.

Don't need web space though, got that coming out of my ears.... Any thoughts?

1 X Mail Account inc 5MB of mail storage
1 X 15MB of web space
1 X secure FTP login account to website
1 X domain name purchase or domain name transfer
1GB of bandwidth through put per month

Usuaul price - £199.00 + VAT

(prices are per year)

Can second gconnect, they were very good and actually bother to answer your calls and carry out requirements. BusinessServe on the other hand...
