Hi Guys,

I used to be the proud owner of a Porsche Cayman S, until one horrible wet night I had an accident. The insurance company decided the car was too badly damaged to be economically repaired so wrote it off. Gutted.

The claim has been settled and the payout (which was lower than market price they state the pay out funnily enough) has been made.

I contacted Porsche as I remember I had paid just shy of £2k on a 2 year warranty and breakdown cover.

Porsche assist have said they will refund me pro rata as I never used the policy.

The Porsche dealership have said it is not their policy to refund warranties as standard ( I didn't use this one either), however they will send all the information I have provided off to Germany head office to see what they will say as this case is unusual with the car being written off and effectively sold to salvagers. They did state that the only circumstances they do issue pro rata refunds on warranties is if the car is sold to a commercial third party (not a main dealer).

I am awaiting their decision but thought I would ask you guys for your thoughts and experiences on a matter like this? Do I have a case?

thanks in advance

Chris
