Hello,
I have a 2001 Tuscan. it is standard factory fitted. It has just failed its MOT on emissions
I have been told that it needs an exhausted catalytic converter fitted to pass.

Has anyone done this or knows more about it.

Any advise would would much appreciate

Have the cats been removed? May have been before your ownership?

Not wishing to give you a lesson in egg sucking, but it's a common mod to release some additional power and for extra pops, bangs and crackles.

I've never taken mine off, but was under the impression that most MOT places would fail a car without it's cats, either on the emissions test, or just the fact that they are not present (regardless of emissions, how they tell I've no idea), and should be on a post "insert year here" car.... and that most owners re-fitted them (it's a relatively trivial job with ramps) prior to yearly test... ???

Indeed, a friendly MOT guy is probably your best bet, I have taken all my vehicles to the same man for years and don't ever get problems with emissions...

Either that or as said a new set of cats will resolve the issue, but only temporary. The cerb had a set of new cats when It first failed, 2 years on and it needed another set to pass! .... well.....

Haha!!

They do struggle a little to get through but a patient and competent MOT tester (aka, friendly MOT tester) should get Tuscan through OK.

Have a look at this Topic .Appears TVR's should have higher tolerances applied.
