Questions For Those Who Have Replaced Their Carpets
Discussion
Have the carpets out of the car now ready to be taken to the trimmers and replicated. The only area I have struggled to fathom is the drivers footwell. The carpet that is on the outer wall of the well is trapped under the pedal box.
The only solution I could think of was to make a neat cut from the area trapped under the pedal box to the recessed tray which holds the ECU and other control units, to but the new carpet up against. What did you guys do?
Did you leave the underlay or replace it all? It doesn't seem to be in too bad condition.
In case it helps any one the vinyl piping in portland grey is from here

If you want to use the original leather to pipe the carpets, the portland grey leather comes from here

With the exception of the pedal box Ive literally removed everything else including column. Do the trimmers really go to these lengths?

I had all my carpets replaced by D&C Trim in Blackpool.
If you're replacing with the same colour carpet then i'd just go with your suggestion in butting up the new stuff as it's hardly an area that you can see at all. Not sure how much hassle removing the pedal box is but I can't imagine it being too much of a pain given how stripped the car is?
Oh, and i'd thoroughly recommend some dynamat or similar, and some acoustic foam under the new carpet. Makes the road noise significantly less intrusive.
