Purchased this one in October 2015 with approx 106,000 miles. 3 owners before me and comprehensive history. Smoke silver with two tone mushroom leather and 18" period AMG wheels. A pic from the previous owner;

Had a long trip from Bournemouth to Norwich to collect it, I took a punt on buying it with no MOT but I knew the car had been looked after so was fairly relaxed. On arrival the car was sitting rather low drivers front corner (the seller, a friend, had forewarned me of this) but on a test drive all seemed to be well with just some scraping noise at full lock. I suspected a cracked / broken Spring.

After a fine steak lunch with the seller I embarked on the journey home, stopping only once at Fleet services for a nature break and a bottle of water. It was looking quite low at this point;

To be continued, I hope, I'd love to hear more about this super car. It looks great in what is a pretty unusual hue for the C140.

When I got home it was very dark so I headed in and got up to investigate the car the next morning. It was fairly obvious then what the problem was;

So I ordered 2 x new springs from MB in Poole (£250), these took about a week to arrive then I put it into my local basic garage / mot place to fit the springs and do the MOT.

Took them a while to get the springs on and I had to have 2 x new ball joints as well, when it was all done it passed the mot with only 1 advisory for crusty brake pipes (been an advisory on the last few mots).

Since then I've just taxed it and used it, probably done about 2,000 miles or so in it now.

As always a few jobs to do. Need a new grill or some repairs to the existing grill. One of the rear light clusters has a hole in it and the parking sensors don't work. I know which sensor is duff on the front (it doesn't click like the others).

Any help on sourcing parts gratefully received!

Nice car Mister.

140 Spares is worth a go, though my recent quarter moulding purchase was very grubby and r129sl reported a disappointing front grille. Having said that, other deliveries have been fine

gave the old girl a wash today, it really is so nice to drive with all the windows down for the full 'pilarless' effect.

A proper continent crushing machine. I imagine it's rather nice wafting about with the roof down.

Nice car, but definitely better with the roof up.

Smoke silver really is a lovely colour isn't it? I must admit that I am sad enough to have moved my recently aquirer 190 down the road and into the setting sun last night to admire the change from silver/gold to a more orangey warn light brown.

Looks so solid, indestructible even.

Is it whisper quiet in the cabin at motorway speeds?

Yes very quiet indeed due to double glazing and lots of sound deadening. If you stamp on the throttle in sport mode or select the gears manually and wring it out to high RPM it gives off a lovely V12 howl but that's not really necessary as it can make very rapid progress at low RPM due to the masses of torque.
