New V8 Mustang or used F-Type V8S?

So here is the question, a well spec'd new Mustang 'vert is not that much cheaper then a used F-Type V8S, plenty of 20000 miles 2013 cars now around the £45K mark, although the Mustang is still cheaper it's close enough to be worthy of consideration.
My view is that there is plenty of depreciation to come with the Mustang, especially as they become more common & if the price of petrol rises significantly. There is still some depreciation in the used F-Type as well, my guess is they will level of around £30K in a couple of years. Therefore not much in it depreciation wise, say £15K over 2 years for both cars.
The F-Type is more than twice the price new, & is I think without doubt the better car, although the Mustang is a competitor in many ways.
So, which would you rather pump you money into & have sitting on the drive?

Had a similar quandary. Used xkr 5.0 or something else. My heart was set on the jag but after a glorious test drive I took the smallest member of the family back to check rear leg room. That ruled the jag out until the kids leave home. After looking at a 911 and the mustang I settled on the mustang as its just so much more practical.
However if you don't have kids and you have no previous mustang passion, the used jag coupe / vert represents the better car Having gone through its most rapid depreciation phase.
That said after test driving the jag I felt relaxed and content in the glorious cabin with more power than you can ever deploy on the road. After testing the stang I couldn't stop grinning in the knowledge the deal was now sealed. Both cars give pleasure in different ways.

Thanks for the responses so far. I know there will be committed Mustang supporters on this forum, & hence a little bias, but I can't be the only one to mull this question. Having driven the F-Type, I love it, but not yet driven the Mustang. I just felt the need to give the Mustang at least some consideration. Personally I am not driven by the need the buy new, so for a similar outlay, and depreciation, these do go head to head for me. I think there is a marked difference in sophistication & quality, but they do nevertheless both make it onto my shortlist of 2.
The thing is, I just know which I'd prefer to have on the drive, which one I'd have a sleepless night over before collecting from the dealer. I think you need to feel that way when buying sportscars - you have to really want them
To be honest you have to go for a test drive in the mustang, it will make the decision very easy, it was just so enjoyable and put such a smile on my face, could not stop thinking about it, so just had to have one.

Dont kid yourself about Jag quality on a £55k XFR it was veneer thin, leather like plastic, untrimmed boot and a cynical sop to the German AMG / M. I dont think the Mustang is 50% behind it in fact its a more honest car not trying to be something its not.

The jag was pretty much the only other car I seriously considered at various points along my waiting for the mustang. The BMW M3 was a close third.
Both excellent cars and quite likely better than the Mustang on many different levels. However, I couldn't bring myself to cancel my order, the other cars are nice but we're buying a Mustang - heart over head the only possible choice.

I would also take a used F -type v8 over the mustang, assuming it was a coupe, was £35k, plus I could fit my 2 teenage lads in the back (like I can in the Mustang)Had been in similar situation up till this weekend. Fancied a Mustang which is bargain for the money. Tried to find a cancelled car but to no avail and being the impatient type started to look at s/h F Types.

What other sub £35k will get kids waving and pointing as well as a few adults, and people being friendly and chatting to you at petrol stations and car parks.
A Caterham, maybe.
Plus its a hoot to drive and after nearly 3 months and 3500 miles in mine, I'm still grinning and getting a kick every time I drive it.
