Underworld - Barbara Barbara...
Discussion
If you check out the 6Music's gig they did a few weeks ago on iPlayer you can hear most of the album, but it's a good mix of upbeat and moody stuff.
If anything, I'd like it to be longer - 7 tracks for the UK but a bonus track on the Japan version I've got, but then maybe that's the sign of a good record?
Up to this point, Beaucoup Fish has probably been my favorite Underworld record and this one is easily on a par with that.

I can count Underworld as being one of the acts that have produced a soundtrack to my life, without a doubt.
I thought Dubnobasswithmyheadman couldn't be improved on, but - for me - it was. One of the tracks off Second Toughest In The Infants was my username on PH for years as it was by far my favourite hoon tune. Then again, Beaucoup had a few majestic tracks as well (I love the moodiness of winjer)
Anyway, off to 6Music for a listen................

CD copy came with todays post, had forgotten I had pre-ordered it so was a nice surprise.
Put it on for the drive home from work and was hooked after 20 seconds of the bass drum intro of I Exhale, and broke into a smile from ear to ear
Full album did seem a little short after the first listen though.
I know I'm in the minority but I love Oblivion With Bells

I love the fast paced but melancholy sounding stuff they produce. Was watching the BBC gig, halfway through Low Burn when I read about how the album got its name. Room got a bit dusty. Also love the banging stuff they do too!
If they knock out a bit of a dud there'll always be a good remix, like the Salt City Orchestra mix of Cups....!

I do agree with that, in as much as it's the only tune on the album where I turned the volume up.The disappointment started with track 1, really, as the likes of Dark & Long, Juanita, and Cups were great, strong, tunes that teed up the rest of the album very nicely indeed. I Exhale just set up a feeling of underachievement that lasted for the next six tracks

Yes that's definitely the one for cranking up and cracking on! I don't want to put a downer on it though. Some of the other tracks are definitely growing on me, If Rah, Nylon Strung..... I suppose it's a bit of a departure and I can't expect more of the same old stuff, that would be boring!
It's a grower,I'll keep trying etc etc. Some good laid back moments but no Beautiful Burnout or similar x2 (to speak in fairly recent terms).
We've been through the ambient stuff,Riverrun a highlight but don't want the cheesy either. Just Underworld.Please.
i'll get my kicks here instead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daSid6Lh9Vs
