Not sure if this is a better fit here or in Computing...

Occasionally we record our acoustic gigs to a Tascam pocket recorder that connects to the tape out on our mixer. Minor clipping issues aside this gives a really nice clean output as a single .wav file of whatever length the set is.

I've been using Audacity to chop the file into individual tracks, but it isn't very user friendly for a couple of reasons. Firstly the position of the track labels doesn't move if you delete part of the data, so all later labels go out of sync. But then if you let it chop the data into individual tracks by exporting them you then have to reimport and re-export the wav data to remove stray chatter etc from the end.

I'm fairly happy with the track editing of Audacity, but I could do with a recommendation for a tool to trim the resulting wav files natively rather than import/export. Mac based btw.

As a Mac user, you probably have Garage Band pre-installed. Unless I'm mistaken, this should have plenty of editing capability.

I used Reaper to record individual instrument tracks for my band. Then used the software to add effects to the tracks, mix levels and then add mastering effects. I'm no pro, a total amatur but, you could use the software to chop up your recording and even apply master effects. The software has a quite long free trial. So it might work for you

Thanks for the suggestions, Wavepad is perfect for what I needed. Demo CD will be arriving at the local pubs shortly whether they want one or not...
