Hi.

I've been messed about by a watch repairer in London.

I need someone to clean the inside of a glass face and pressure test it for water tightness.

Watch is a ladies RADO

Can anyone recommend someone please? Preferably in London or Herts.

Thanks
Rich

Myself and Variomatic do a lot of watches for pistonheads forum members. Neither of us have had anything other than good reviews. So good is Variomatic that I have now started using him full time (I'm telling him now, ha!). My in house watchmaker has feathered his nest long enough and has decided to retire in a few weeks. My recommendation is to plump up the postage and send to Vario or via myself if you'd prefer to see somebody closer to home. You'll get a great service as per others here. Trust me.

Not used him myself, but those who have on PH seem happy enough.

Perfect. Send you an email back.

I just had a text off the friend who recommended me the chap who messed up the RADO.... you will not believe this.

"Went into get get my watch today after 2 months, he gave it to me and he'd shattered the glass. He said 'I didn't know if it was like that when you gave it to me'. WHAT THE *swearword* *swearword*?????!!!! I'm so sorry I steered you toward such a knob, I really had no idea. Send me the details of the other chap, I need him!"

It was a 1960 Speedmaster

He has your details Joe.

Maybe they could ask his guide dog! How the fk do you miss a shattered crystal on receipt????

Not a problem, original (or whatever Omega specify from their current range) is probably still available and, if not, there's an excellent range of after-market ones available for that era which even (apparently legally) have the Omega symbol in the centre.I can only assume Omega have sanctioned them because they're not really interested in supporting watches of that age any more.

For PH NAS reason.... the watch maker in questions name rhymes with

Bomb Balker....

Tom Talker....

or

Dom Dalker.

and his shop is near "Pond" Street Tube Station. London
