997 Driver's spec is a rare car

On the lookout for a 997 and it has struck me that despite there being zillions of them made. If you want...

...there are very few cars out there. It's actually a very rare beast

The manual box (short shift) sold it to me within 200 yards of driving down the road.
In GTS form I think there are 100 cars with a manual box. There seem to sell very,very quickly when they hit the market. There have been three on the market (that I have seen since) Xmas...all have sold very quickly. Make a great buy in S form if you can find one! Probably a cheap car.
Indeed very rare to get all of those things! Add the beautiful sports buckets and you're talking a handful of cars.
However, really all you need is a manual one. Most will never appreciate the LSD and it's just something that will eventually break if properly used anyway.
I haven't looked at prices for a couple of months but there was a time where a perfect GTS was not much cheaper than an older 997.1 GT3. Just something to bear in mind, as the GT3 is another level whilst being a perfectly adept road car.

agree I have been looking also for a daily and thought I would get one, as none of the new cars do it for me, but as you say none for sale, the Brown one was, well Brown !!! so not for me at all.- RWD

GTS now seems over priced and not worth £20k (of my money anyway) over a normal 3.8S manual esp as most are creaping up the miles a bit imo.

I bought a regular manual 997.2 C2S last year with a better spec (including PSE)but without the LSD. I think you'll find that a good, low mileage example in a decent colour wont be £20k cheaper. My experience was that it took ages to find and they dont hang around long even without a 'GTS' badge. Good luck with the search I have no regrets with mine but it wasn't cheap. Ape50 said:

£45k for a C2s vs £65k for a GTS was what I am finding.Personally I really,really wanted a manual car because of the driving experience, it'll be a bonus if that means that car holds it's value better than a PDK.
I am only looking at Manual 2WD sub 20k miles cars, the best GTS was up for £67k or £69k I forget by Hexagon
And most others have been PDK or higher miles.

Not sure Hexagon are a good barometer of fair prices but I take your point! If I was a dealer I'd probably ask close to £65k if I got my hands on a car with under 20k miles on it. Just looked at the DK site, the GTS they had up for £62k has sold, that was PDK but had a full leather interior I think.And most others have been PDK or higher miles.

The OPC I bought from actually did me a deal on mine to bring it down to £60k which I was pleasantly surprised by! starting to think I got a good deal...,
I think total sales of manual RWD GTS's was about 100 cars in the UK.
