I am looking at a Macan S and I have been told by my dealer that delivery for a Diesel will be 4 to 5 months or 18 months for petrol. Petrol would have been my preferred option but I don't want to wait 18 months. Does anyone here know differently?

Depends on the dealer - which one said 18 months ?
I doubt very much the petrol is even 12 months from order to delivery depending on which OPC you use.
PM if you prefer.

I was at opc reading this morning and it was mentioned in passing the the macan lead time was around a year, didn't mention if petrol or diesel.

Test drove a diesel at OPC Glasgow 2 weeks ago - quoted May for diesel or (I think) September for petrol.

Diesels are easy to come by at the moment but any petrol is at least 12 months wait. Although the diesel will come quicker you are buying a Porsche so petrol is much more in keeping, plus there will likely be better residuals on the petrols. Be patient and go for the petrol.

We ordered a Turbo last May with a planned delivery of Sept 16 and a note on the system that we wanted to change it to the GTS as and when announced.

Have been told by OPC that we are getting their 2nd GTS (apparently they are only getting two in the first half) and delivery should be April/early May.

They also told me they have no allocations of Petrol S this year and Turbo still around 12 months.

I would say probably longer than 12 months but you really need to talk to some dealers and ask them the questions on allocations and delivery.

I'll be selling my Petrol S in a month or 2 when my GTS arrives. Hoping residuals are as good as people keep saying they are.

I've just deposited a Turbo and have been told to expect mid17 unless allocations improve. I had asked for delivery for March 17. They often come a little earlier so maybe it will make March.

Ordered Diesel a few weeks ago with a May delivery date from Reading... Was tempted by Petrol but Reading said that would be nearer Christmas for delivery.

Why would anyone choose 'petrol' rather than 'diesel'?

I thought, with these types of cars, the oodles of mid-range torque and better fuel economy favoured diesels? Certainly seemed to be the case with the Cayenne?

For anyone who's interested there is a brand new black petrol Macan S on Newcastle Porsche website home page.

I put a deposit on a Macan s in January last year. I gave up waiting for a build slot in March this year and switched my deposit to a Cayenne. Good luck if you can find one, be ready for a long wait

I assume delivery July this year? That's fantastic news. Was it a cancelled order? And can I be cheeky and ask which OPC?
