2008 BWM 335i Touring

So have been a member on here for a couple of years now but never put my cars on here. I've had an Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Avant for around 8 years. Its a great car with a good blend of performance and load carrying ability for when I need to carry the bikes. It has been very reliable and I enjoyed driving it. In fact its surprised a few hot hatches with a decent turn of speed when called upon. However I fancied something with a bit more go but still able to lug stuff around if needed. Originally looking for an S4 or at one stage a C5 RS6.
However I had never considered the BMW 3 series Touring and where I work there was one for sale. A 335i Touring in sparkling grey metallic. 59,000 on the clock and full BMW history. so after driving it and hearing that engine on start up! I agreed a price. so here she is needs a clean though!
It needs a good leather clean. the front alloys need a refurb. I am going to try the exhaust flap mod and see if it sounds even better. Will post better pictures and spec later.

I had a lovely 335d which I bought some decent quality CSL reps for and it looked fantastic. 
Tunings maybe not your thing but with a simple jb4 box you will be in m3 performance territory.
I had one on my 135i and m135i and it transformed the cars straight line ability. It's all switchable while driving via the steering wheel controls

I'm enjoying it so far. The auto box takes a bit of getting used to. It seems very sluggish away from standstill in D better in DS. In manual with the paddles its pretty good although why both paddles do up and down the box is beyond me! Dont use 1st on a wet roundabout that gets the DTC blinking!! Idrive takes a bit of getting used to. I can't check the oil under the bonnet as it has no dipstick I have to use the Idrive which I think is crap. Its got run flats which so far don't seem to deserve the bad press that I've seen, maybe time will tell. Compared to the Audi its smaller for a start especially the boot, its more focused in the steering dept (it has active steering). Front end grip is amazing! Not as settled on the motorway. Memory seats are great as my wife and I can have separate settings. Headlights are far superior. Still getting my head round operating all the toys. Will uprade interior lights to LED, have changed the boot struts as they nearly had my head off! I've heard a remap can see another 40 HP that must be nearly M3 power? Also it seems to enjoy telling me I'm discharging the battery had that warning a few times maybe the short journeys?

That is a good looking car. Those wheels look great what sort of price would a remap and wheels cost if you don't mind me asking. Tunings maybe not your thing but with a simple jb4 box you will be in m3 performance territory.

Wheels were only £550 but you'd need tyres as 18" csl's don't really work IMO.
Jb4 is a no brainer it's very safe and like i say you can have it on standard mode and then if you want to open it up and add up to 80bhp you just select the map on one of the steering wheel buttons.
They've even got a valet map which runs no boost so when your leaving it with the garage you can be a little re-assured.
It's used on 1000's of cars across the globe and they've pretty much perfected it. You can even safely alter boost your self so you can limit it in the lower gears.
It's only around £350 too!!

Crikey and I thought it was quick enough! The remap seems a bit of a bargain might look into it. Very nice, I looked for several months for an E91 335i, but I wanted a manual. I gave up in the end an settled for a decent manual 330i, still not an easy task!
At 59k you fall just under the 60k cut off for the cheaper comprehensive BMW/Mondial warranty, well worth considering, especially on an auto 335i, with turbos and HPFP etc. From memory I ran some quotes when I was looking and removing the breakdown cover and bumping the excess to £250 it was £35 ish a month and £45 ish with £100 excess, just a heads up.

Yes already did a quote and it came out at £540 with the breakdown cover. Have read about the turbo waste gate rattle but thought the HPFP was more the American market with their crap fuel. Its always the same with warranty do you outlay the premium to never use it or be resigned to the fact that you pay out if it all goes pear shaped! I do fairly low miles and tend to over service my cars ( I'm an Engineer so a bit OCD with mechanicals)
Decided to do the exhaust flap mod. The left exhaust has a flap that is shut on start to keep the noise down and aid emissions (so I'm told).There are 2 ways of doing it, scrabble around underneath the car and disconnect the pipe on the actuator or the easy way which is to disconnect the vacuum solenoid which on the touring is in the boot behind the panel where the warning triangle /first aid kit is kept. Well it seems to make a difference as when I started the car the next door neighbours dog started barking!! It does sound a bit louder now when driving around town. Sounds even better when you give it some throttle! Can easily reverse it if needed as well.
I've got a Cobb re-flash on mine and it transforms the car from "quick" to "really quite fast". There was a good thread not long ago on re-flash options for the N54:

Small update.
So after getting fed up of battery warnings and the heated rear window not working I decided to change the battery. After a bit of internet searching it turns out you have to register the battery to the car!! I ordered a cable and software and then phoned the local BMW dealer for a price on a battery. That's £148 plus VAT sir! (My car has an AGM battery) Well after looking around it seemed to be the best option so parted with the cash. Decided to replace it during a morning off. 20 mins to change the battery then 40 mins sorting the software and registering the battery. Replaced the phone holder in the centre arm rest with the tray as well. Next will be an LED angel eye upgrade and a few things to code like mirror fold on the key angel eyes as DRL etc.
