The turbocharged 4 wheel drive Alfa 155...

Sounds like a performance bargain?

Anyone got any comments?

hmm - test drove one of these - 2.5 v6

alfa = gorgeous engines - fantastic soundtrack

I was impressed by the fit and finish too

two things stopped me... one the central air vent in the dash looks very 1980's and ruins an otherwise georgeous interior - esp in momo leather

ride quality - with the heavier engine - the suspension wasn't sufficiently taut - excessive body roll and understeer when pressing on.

Now both of these were rumoured to have been cured in this variant ... definately worth a look

but - car is due an update soon - check when !

Gargamel, I was sorta considering one for a track day jobby. Always liked the look of the 155. Ugly but cool ugly. If you catch my drift. in 4x4 variant I'd love to know how it handles...

best bit is the badge ... no question alfa still has a certain charm...

hmm track weapon .... not too sure about that - not much tuning available as far as I know - and the luxury bits definately add weight, still depreciation on them is high so I guess if the price is right ...

1litre of oil every 1000 miles ! (minimum)

Effectively an Integrale underneath and we all know what they are like - stunning. Not as fast as the modern Scoobies and Evos, but boy pretty damn fast and very "adjustable" what ever that means...

Cheers,

Having been passengered in a sideways 155 q4 around a wet roundaboutI can vouch for their adjustable handling!A bit of a Q car too,as it looks like a bog standard 155.Great fun.If you want to know more stick a post on www.alfa155.com or www.alfaowner.com

My local dealer was v suprised when I told him the GTV hadn't used any oil since 8000 miles, I think due to careful running in. Also, I steer clear of Optimax 'cos cleaning off the carbon is probably going to increase its taste for the black stuff!

I still check it every 1000 miles to be safe, but when the handbook recommends checking every 300 miles, you know they're not p155ing about!

The Spider doesn`t use that much but my old 156 was certainly as thirsty for oil as Olly Reed for alcohol.

I don't see any reason why Alfa engines should be any less oil efficient than any other make. Alfa produce some of the best engineered power trains in the world (biased opinion) and my 26 year old doesn't use any more than the wifes 2000 BM.

155 Q4 is highly rated car, you'll need to look hard/carefully to get a good one. There are two on: www.alfalink-cars.com/155_156.html

Good luck...
