Hi all
I am in the process of planning a trip to the historic gp in Monaco in mid May

I shall be setting off early doors from up "North" on a Wednesday to the tunnel where my first overnight stop will be the Hotel de France near Le Man

Now I need to be in Monaco for the Friday evening where I will be staying for the weekend

So basically I need to plan a route on the Thursday , and find somewhere to stay on that night which will leave me a run down into Monaco on the Friday.

Now obviously I am doing some research but if anyone can give me any suggestions for a route or certain roads which are a must ( route napoleon ?) then it would be much appreciated , I realise it will be a bit of a slog if I try to keep off the toll roads but I think I should cram the miles in on Thursday, leaving Friday an easier day.
Not really thought about the trip back on the Monday, as I may just have to get back asap, which I once had to do in a day in a 996 and I kid you not the then girlfriend slept all the way back!!

If anyone could suggest a nice town, preferably not a city to stay on the Thursday that would be great.

Thanks lee

I drove down there over 2 days many years ago, all the way from Calais.
It's a fking long way. I just took the Autoroute du Soleil which meant plenty of toll stops. I did get bored on the first day and came off to take a road running parallel to the A6 but after driving for an hour or so and looking at the map you realise you are not getting anywhere smile

Le Mans is a fking long way out if you are heading for Monaco!

I assume you want to see Le Mans but its really going to add a hell of a long time to the drive.

I normally stay near Dijon or Lyon on the way down but coming from Le Mans, Lyon is probably the sensible option.

Why would you go via Le Mans? It's a 250km addition?!

Unfortunately I am of no help with the route, however having recently taken to arranging my European road trip, which included Monaco I found that not all insurance company's will cover you in Monaco. Worth contacting your insurance company before setting off.
