I get a sound almost like a tyre squealing when I change up under hard acceleration - could this be the clutch?

If so, does anybody else get it and is it anything to worry about?

It seems to come from the front offside and it happens when I depress the clutch, not when I let the clutch back in.

Sorry,

I don't get any screech noise. Sounds very clutch.
Get it check as it could just be the cable being a bit
loose.

All i hear is a V8, turbo dump valves and wind
Gear box can be a bit rattly when changing in cold.

Sounds like the clutch release bearing to me - had the same go on a Mini once (OK technology not quite the same as a Maser but the principal must be similar!).

Sounded like a tyre squeal - can't remember it being louder under hard acceleration though. Other symptoms exactly the same.

I get this sometimes under hard acceleration - a mechanic mate thought it might be something to do with the turbo waste gates - but if not a general thing then that doesn't sound likely.

Is it a really brief little chirp noise? If so, I got that all the time on mine when accelerating hard and changing gear. I am 99% sure it is turbo wastegate related and nothing to worry about. Certainly mine did it the whole time I owned it and never got worse and never developed into a clutch problem of any sort.

I sometimes get that noise Paul.
Its my turbo spinning that makes the noise.
I thought I had a cat stuck in the car !
its not too loud in mine to be honest but maybe worth getting it checked out ?
Where did you buy the car from ?

But if it related to a specific action e.g as you have stated then get it back to garage asap before the problem gets worse.

Thanks everybody.

I'm going on holiday in a few weeks so I might leave it at the garage - no harm done.

It does sound as you've described but only happens when I depress the clutch and sounds like a chirp.

Pete, I bought it from Greypaul Nottingham.

On another point, my radio blew a fuse (I had to take off that bloody big plate in the passenger foot well). I replaced it but it still doesn't work - Greypaul said there's another fuse located in the centre arm rest and to get to it you need to pull out the rear passenger air vents.

I did this but could only see the inner casing of the air vents - anybody know where I should be looking?

Paul,
good job you bought from main dealer, hopefully you will have a good level of service from them as you bought from approved dealer.
I know the amserati warranty is very strict about the quality of cars supplied under it.
give them a ring and have a chat with them.
they should be very helpful.
let us know how you get on ?

I've taken a look at my "Vehicle" Service Manual and Parts book but cannot see any reference to a fuse below the centre armrest. Assuming Graypaul are right (the manuals are good but sometimes incomplete), make sure you have removed the complete vents ie about 2 inches of tube with the twin butterflies pivoting on the front of the tube.

Alternatively, you can easily remove the whole armrest as follows:
- Remove ashtray centre
- remove screw in ashtray recess
- remove ashtray recess and disconnect connector (LED)
- remove screw below ashtray recess
- remove 2 rear vents as above
- remove screw at bottom of each vent apperture (screwdriver vertical obliquely through apperture)
- remove screw fastening handbrake grip to handbrake lever (underneath at base - possibly allen screw) and slide off the grip.
- carefully raise the centre rear of the tunnel/armrest, disconnect the the cigar lighter connector and remove the tunnel/armrest by sliding upwards and forwards over the handbrake.

Hope this helps

Isn't there a fuse/relay panel near the battery in the boot?
