Hi all,

Does anyone know roughly what the db level is for a 1.4 k series with standard 4-1 exhaust?

Thanks,

Andy

Doesn't have a cat, and the car is second hand (purchased August ish), so I can't really vouch for when it was last repacked...it's something that's on my radar for the next few months.

ok too many variables really they normally are in the range 98 to 107 but that's a huge range. Do you have a smartphone ? if so the apps are very good and within 1dB If it helps I can explain the test procedure and method ? Are you near a circuit if so most will test if you say you are looking to book on a trackday? Finally be aware that at MSV tracks there is driveby as well as static test.

Thanks so much! I think the standard unit is sealed anyway? So repacking might be a pain...was thinking about replacing the exhaust completely, any suggestions? will give the apps a go and see what they come up with in terms of noise.

I have a 2.0 K series putting out around 220bhp. That registers 94dB, but with a Raceco exhaust.
I'd imagine your car would be fine for any track, which is probably the reason for your question...

It is indeed, hoping to go a bit later in the year, thanks for the replies! I've ordered a db meter... the app has it at around 101, not sure how accurate that is though.

did you measure it at the correct distance and angle?
If so it should be within 1 dB or so.
