Not had her long, and tbh probably the worst time of the year to take delivery of a convertible!! At least the sun was out on collection day.
Pit-stop for food on the looooooooooong drive home.
Finally home.
Ummed and ahhed about what to get for a while. Decision process went something like this:
Do like a convertible.
Have come from a long line of small engined turbo cars (evos, hot hatches) so a larger capacity N/A did appeal. You just don't get THAT soundtrack from a 2.0.
Been using BATs R300s for trackdays over the last few years so it didn't need to have any track credentials.
Heard the SLK was being dropped (SLC now) and as a result deals were available. Carwow did the business here. Had to choose from only 4 available in the whole UK but got the colour I wanted and some good options ticked.
So there you go. Finally replaced my beloved R26R. 2 more different dives I cant imagine. But times and circumstances change, so we'll see how we go with this one. It certainly made a good noise on the way home. Hopefully come the spring we'll get some miles under the belt and all will be well.

As for the rest of it, I'm going to be controversial and say that the looks aren't that great - I think it's the least-well-proportioned of its' long family tree of MB coupes - something which is made worse by how good the new SLC looks. All in my opinion of course, and generally if I see one of these out on the road I'm going to be seeing the back end of it anyway - which isn't so bad!

A great choice OP, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, even more so when you get the roof down. I ordered mine in July and took delivery in early October for much the same reasons as you. Always wanted to scratch the V8 itch and realised it was now or never with the coming of the SLC. I chose Selenite grey with Bengal red, looks stunning and a bit more discreet / refined than my previous Fire Opal red SLK 350 (also a R172). Make sure you take up the free AMG driving experience, it is great fun.
