Taffia Fish and Chip Run 2016.

The Leg and Hairy Taffia Fish and Chip Run 2016.
We’re planning a relaxed drive over to Aberdovey on the West Wales coast on Saturday 16th April 2016 and we were wondering if any one fancied joining us?
This has become one of our most pleasant and popular days out for all the family so bring your grannie, boyfriend, girlfriend or even your wife. Last year saw 80+ cars leave Chepstow and turn up on the promenade for fish and chips.
As with all the Taffia days out we have a casual start with coffee & a bacon butties served from around 08.30am at our very friendly local meeting place, the Piercefield Inn on the A466 near Chepstow race course, most of you should know the venue by now - it’s also our monthly meet pub. We plan to leave the Piercefield at about 10.00am - in no particular order, but not all at once, to avoid a large traffic jam of sevens cluttering the towns & villages & frightening the sheep!
The usual excitement of finest roads Wales has to offer has been mixed into the 280 mile round trip, taking in some old favourites along the scenic roads past the wandering sheep! After this spectacular scenery and tarmac heaven (having given the rev limiter a good workout) we hit the prom at about 12.30pm to see the sights, have a chat & breathe in the salty atmosphere before filling ourselves with the local produce. It’s up to you how long you spend on the sea front before meandering back to the Piercefield to reflect on the fun of the day and have cheeky half amongst old and new friends from around 4:00pm. You can even have a bite to eat if the fish & chips didn't fill you up!!
A "suggested" route with full road book and some fuel stops will be available at the pub in the morning but there is no fixed drive, go with the flow at your own pace & get lost a few times. The best bit is its all free, no booking, just roll up, sign on and leave with a grin. The start point is our Area pub, The Piercefield Inn, Chepstow, NP16 6EJ.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 16th April; get it in your diary NOW

Actually I can sympathise with HolbaySS, Lyn and I felt much the same when we came on the event.
It may well be that it was down to us as we are both quiet and introverted people but there wasn't a very comfortable feel to the place as we looked for anyone to talk to who wasn't apparently deeply involved with others.
We eventually left the bar area and looked at the cars until the off and then tagged on behind pretty much the last group to leave. As it was we did become friends with a couple within that group when we had to stop as one of the group had a slight problem meaning they couldn't continue.
I have spoken to many others who have attended on their own and have nothing but praise for the event so it may just be us?

I think it's probably because you get a lot of regulars at these events and they've been going for years, so know each quite well.
I think it's just a matter of having to make the effort to speak to people. I didn't know anyone at the Mad Hatter trackday in Llandow last year (a different group to the Taffia trackday earlier in the year), but once I got chatting to people everyone was very friendly and I'm now friends with quite a few on Facebook and look forward to seeing them again.
Yes, it's hard for us introverted types to get talking sometimes, but once you make the effort you'll be glad.
I'll be along if the weather permits! I should have my aeroscreen fitted by then too.
Alan, is there going to be a Llandow shakedown this year?

Hi Andy I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Sorry, not doing the pre-season shakedown at Llandow this year. We've been struggling with numbers over the last few years & last year we had to allow a couple of non 7s to attend on the Friday before the trackday on Saturday otherwise it would have been called off.I think it's just a matter of having to make the effort to speak to people. Oh that's a shame! I'm not surprised though as the turnout was a bit poor last year and the year before. It did mean lots of track time though.I guess lots of people still have their cars off the road that time of year. Mine's insured all day round just in case it's a nice day (not much luck this year though!).
