TAG Heuer - SuperLuminova - not very super
Discussion
I have just bought a new Carrera Calibre 16 Chrono, which does look really nice in daylight, but I was more than somewhat disappointed when trying to use it after dark.
The face has no luminous markings (should have spotted that in the shop, I suppose...) and the hands are really really dim when compared with my 15 year old Breitling B1 (and my cheapo Lorus!). My comparison is side by side after exposing to artificial light for the same period of time.
Is it normal for SuperLuminova to be so poor?

I've owned a few TAG pieces and have also noticed the poor SuperLuminova qualities at night. However, I always put this down to the fact that there wasn't much SL applied to the hands and hour markers! Compared to a diving watch, there was a huge difference in brightness and duration when 'charged' ...
It sounds as though you need a Ball watch (or any watch incorporating tritium tubes) to add to your collection; for night excursions!

Why not treat yourself to a Seiko SRP7** aka Seiko 6309/6306 REISSUE, cost is around $300+

My wife has a Ball and I have a Nite for the tubes. Should be good for 25 years+ even in pitch darkness (half the tritium will have decayed in ~12.5 years).
