New to us Discovery 4, 61-plate, needs a 50k mile service. Up to now it's full LRSH. I know the argument that warranties aren't (shouldn't be) affected by a switch to Indie servicing, but...

Should I just maintain the Full LRSH and get it booked in to a main dealer? Or should I go through a local specialist indie that I've used for previous LR products?

Reason for the question this time is that I've never had a car with full manufacturers service history so it hasn't come up. Head says indie, heart is unsure.

I'd go with my local Indie every time. However I have used them for over twenty years and they have a very good reputation locally.
Buying I would not be put off by having non LR dealers stamps.

I had my RRS serviced by the main dealer whilst in warranty and each time they messed up varying in severity from forgetting to stamp the service book to not tensioning the screws in one of the underbody bash plates leading to a massive trail of sparks up a section of the M1 until I took note of the flashing lights behind me

My indie charges 60% of their rates and I have nothing but praise for them
They also offer a collect and drop service and/or courtesy scabby Freelander for free whilst the dealer no longer offer either

That immediately made me think of my excellent indy.

Not on the south coast are you, by any chance.
