L405/L322 petrol - 5.0 non supercharged???
Discussion
I'm mulling over replacing my L322 3.6TDV8 in the next year and I'm thinking petrol again. I had a 4.4 V8 in the past. While I know I'm going to get beaten round the head with a petrol pump on a regular basis, I quite like the idea of a normally aspirated car rather than forced. I don't need the extra power particularly (or 12mpg!) but prefer a petrol lump as I'm fed up of the smell. I'm assuming consumption in the high teens, plus I'd like something a bit fun as the Porsches have had to go due to the arrival of Mini911.
Anyway, I've spotted a couple of 5.0 V8 (non S/C) L405s for sale in the UK but they're left-hookers, which I don't want. Anyone know where I could source a RHD one? I'd also consider one of the last L322s....

Pretty sure LR have never sold any 5.0 non-SC L405s in the UK.
Quite a big difference between the L405 and L322. I'm not sure even with the 5.0SC either would be a 'fun' car to drive - they're just not that sort of car. Though it might give you a grin flooring it on the entry-ramp to the motorway if that's what you mean. I know what you mean about the smell of diesel, but if buying used you will have a LOT more choice going for a 4.4SDV8 L405 as there are so many more on the market so you can get a better deal and better spec vs a petrol one. Just something to think about, plenty of power with the 4.4 too - even more torque than the petrol.

I think the NA 5.OL was for some markets, I think USA, they were not sold in the UK or France. I would definitely go petrol rather than Diesel (but owning a Supercharged I would say that!). I did own a couple of Diesel Range Rovers but what makes me prefer petrol rather than Diesel is the refinement of the Supercharged version no Diesel can match, be it a V8.
