How to get noticed as a driver by a team?
Discussion
So, I've got my B racing licence, and have competed in the 2012 MINI Challenge and a few classic races. But how do i join a team? A i able to advertise myself somewhere? Or do I have to hope that someone finds me? Im not looking to go pro or anything, but it'd be nice to race of a team!
If you have raced previously then I am very surprised you would ask this question.
The title of your thread suggests that you expect to be "noticed" - presumably for your talent.
Most race teams are set up to fund the lifestyle of the team owners. It is their business. Their means of earning a living.
In the very rarified world of driver management and promotion, I would have thought the "spotters" would be after the kids who have grown up in karts and progressed to single seater racing. Most of them will be funded by large private budgets for many years before they can earn a living from the sport. You won't be spotted running around in the pack racing Minis.
If you want to be part of a race team for the added benefits that it can bring then it is generally down to how much money you can come up with. If you are really talented then a good team would want you to part of their team as they would benefit from your success but they will still want your money.
Having said all of the above, if you are prepared to pay a team to run you in a series or championship then do your homework and find a team that will deliver you what you want. Find out who else they run. You will learn from your team owner and your team mates. But watch out - for every great team in every series, there are probably a couple of mediocre teams and a couple of sharks just out to take your money.
As I said at the beginning. Very odd that you would ask this question if you have any experience of racing.
Good luck.

Surely looking through the BDRC website would be a start.

Teams are encouraged to purchase and run the newly built BRDC Formula 4 cars alongside private family-run entries in a bid to create a healthy and competitive paddock. Teams wishing to join the championship will be limited to running a maximum of four cars. The cost of participation is expected to range from £35,000 for a private entrant to £70,000 for a professional team.

Afraid those budget figures are massively wide of the mark.
As been said previously, You will only get "noticed" for winning. The cost to do that in any championship is significant, from Formula Ford 1600 circa £50k to F4 circa £200k.
Other championships are available
I have raced on the same weekend as F4 and their budgets didn't seem small thats for sure. As been said previously, You will only get "noticed" for winning. The cost to do that in any championship is significant, from Formula Ford 1600 circa £50k to F4 circa £200k.

I thought GP2 drive was circa £500k? I guess I have this wron if F4 is £200k...

So any idea how much this would cost be roughly? I have some spare cash lying around...
Basically you need to work out what champ and speak to the teams and ask how much they want to run you. Unlikely they will approach you. For an idea of costs in club racing.
I can run you in the BRSCC Supercup. I would need £1500 a round if you own the car, £2500 if you want to use mine.
Entries etc are on top of that. They are £400 per round.
