I've smoked for 20 years.

Tried numerous times to give up, unsuccesfully.

Was told about this book.

www.allencarrseasyway.com

Read it, stopped smoking end of last year and will never have another cigarette, ever.

What you waiting for ???

The g/f and I did the same last May.

Haven't looked back.

Its only a few quid for the book, so its got to be worth it. So much cheaper then patches and much, much more effective (i.e. it works)

Congrats Lazy and keep it up I haven't had a ciggy since 28th November last year.

Cold Turkey, no patches, gum or books to help.

Bought it a couple of weeks ago after a recommendation from a chap at work. I'm expecting great things...

The great thing about this book is that it doesn't use shock tactics. i.e: "You'll die a nasty death" .

It simply puts things into perspective and really gives you superb mind control.

Sort of self hypnosis. Its basically a book where the authour tells you the total truth, including the things you know deep down but would never admit to. its brainwashing more than hypnosis. You read it and are a bit scared that this guy knows these things.

But, it works.

Yes, I suppose in a way it is.

I won't explain fully what the book says as it might take away some of the impact if you were planning to read it.

Congrats to you too.

If anyone reading this has never smoked, you won't understand what an achievement it is to have stopped.

when I first read it I thought "this guy is a terrible author - he keeps repeating himself" but then I realised he is using suggestion and effecting your sub consious mind.

brilliant stuff.

I finished reading it on holiday last year, smoked my last cigarette and threw away my tabs (nearly a whole packet) and my lighter.

Within 4 hours I was going through the bin.

Hey Ho, worked for my girlfriend though.

Doesn't work for everyone. He's got a follow up book to read if the first one didn't work.

... "bin" there done that! Me and the missus were on holiday, there was a group of 3 elderly couples in the hotel. Very pleasant to say Hello to. Anyway, one day we were on the mainland and saw 5 of them. We walked over and said Hi and their reaction was a little strange. We asked if they were OK and they said that one of the men (who happened to remind me of my grandad) had died in the night from an pulminory embolism

On the ferry back we said how tragic it was and how we'd hate to lose each other and so ceremoniously cast our (nearly full) packet of cigarettes in to the wake of the boat, swearing never to smoke again.

An hour later we were nearly killing each other - so off we went in search of cigarettes....

Read it on holiday last year - smoked throughout reading it (as it requests) and hardly stopped (apart from when asleep) after I'd finished it! - It is good though, just didn't want to give up.

Been nearly a year now & still smoking like a chimney!

I've been told by a few friends that the Allen Carr Sessions (they have sessions all over the UK) are excellent. Cost is about £280. 1st session about 85% give up for good. If you don't quit (or remain quit) after the first session you can go back two more times, if this still fails - they give you your £280 back (apprently) - bargain if you ask me!

I'll be going just before my 30th (any excuse!) which is 13mths away!

Nice one.

Last ciggy on Jan 15th 2003. For no apparent reason, just decided I didn't want to smoke anymore. Not even thought about it since. (Except that it was like getting a massive pay rise!)

Now, if only i could use this will power for something else......

I gave up after 40 odd years smoking. Went to the docs as my asthma was getting worse and she said that apart from the Asthma I was in quite good shape. Asked for the patches and stopped the next day. OK, its only been 1 month 5 days 9hrs and 31 mins, but I have not smoked 1091 fags and saved £259.35. Go here www.silkquit.org for the application

I did too.

I'm still amazed I've done it.

I did the Allen Carr workshop thingie rather than reading the book and quit for around 8 months.

I was more of a "social smoker" though and I've always maintained it's harder for those who simply enjoy a ciggie with a drink to quit than those who fear their health at risk because of a far larger habit.

Making excuses for myself I know, but I don't beat myself up for enjoying a fag or two once a week.

Lazy - good on you mate.

I should really give up, started smoking aged 11, father died years ago from heart disease (aged 47)!!!

Fooling myself I'd be giving my life up, but know deep down I'd create a better one.

Glad you posted this, I'm tempted to go to one of the session for my b'day in march (instead of next year!)
