So 2015 is coming to an end, which can only mean the 2016 Dubai 24hr race is almost on us.

From the entry list I see Ollie (aka Wookie) is down to drive a Ginetta again. Anybody else competing in any which way, shape or form (eg: driving, spannering, administration)?

The organisers are saying there will be close to 100 cars on the grid, which if true means it will be packed (100 cars over 5.5km of track!). The number of GT3 and 911 cars just keeps on growing which makes the event rather special.

I will be there with our Honda DC5 car no. 48, garage 10A. We share with 2 Porche 911's with 3 Audia R8's in garage 10C (1 being the C. Abt Racing).

I have completed our event planning, event strategy, task allocation, tyre strategy and driver order. Well you have to have a plan even if it goes out of the window in session 1.......

I just have to get back to Dubai for the event.......

I'm hoping to be driving in 2017, couldn't make it for 2016.
My dad was talking to your team at the NGK 3 hour a few weeks back, and he will be there for the 24.

Hope to see you there in 2017 then.

Was your dad helping another team or is he based out in the middle east? We had a Nash racing with WRC Developments in the 2012 Dubai 24hr hour. Any relation?

He lives in Dubai.
I sent him on a spying mission, to pick tips etc etc from the professionals.
We are doing the Silverstone 24, and it will be our first so need all the pointers we can get.
No relation to us........as far as I'm aware.

Oh, he also watched Labour of Love on the flight back here, and said it was brilliant.

More then willing to spend some time with your dad at the D24 in Jan to talk about the Silverstone 24hr. I did the Britcar 24hr in 2010 as team manager so I did the entry, administration, team organisation, strategy etc.

Drop me a pm if you want to talk more about the Silverstone event and if I can help you.

I also saw that program on the plane ( Emirates entertainment you can't beat it!) it was good to see a program on how tough club level motor racing can be. The whole effort was a bit of a disaster due to mechanical problems and lack of testing but they were quick enough when it was running.

Am I joining the dots correctly if I said that it was you that Amy sent the text to to say I'd seen Labour of Love on a plane in early Dec?

Quali results here:

Also, don't forget the race is live on Motors TV, and also streamed on-line via the 24H website.

Working ok for me.

Find this hard to watch though...great to have 98 cars racing but very hard to follow or understand where everyone is. Le Mans and WEC seem to strike the right balance.

Also don't understand why some of the classes have to run to a delta they can't go over unless it's one of their 10 joker laps?!? Why can't you just drive as quick as the driver/car can go?!?

I know what you mean. All very confusing.

Luckily I'm only following one car so I'm watching that on live timing under class and also on the live circuit tracker. Quite a nice feature on their website.

watched on motors....not the whole 24 , and live timing on the web helped, although found it hard to keep up with driver changes.
