Have recently got my car (3.0 V8 QV engine) back from an extensive/expensive service and for the first 100 miles or so it was purring like a kitten.
Unfortunately, this weekend everything changed.
It is most reluctant to start, and pops and woofles when it does eventually catch, running roughly for several minutes, during which one has to keep pumpng the throttle to keep it alive. Idle seems to be around 600, which it can sustain for about 5 second before dying.
Once warm, it runs as well as ever, save for the idle - stalls if you let the revs drop.
I suspect this may be the result of something relatively simple - a vacuum pipe loose or the like, and am looking for any hints before I take it back to get looked at properly.
Please?

Richard, sorry to hear the bad news. You should get something nice and reliable with carbs!

Do you know what sort of fuel injection the car has? The Bosch K-jetronic system produces exactly this behaviour if the thermo time switch, or one of it's temp sensors is dodgy.
