Air suspension advice
Discussion
Hi folks I'm looking at buying a late model classic preferably with air suspension. Quite a few that are for sale have had the conversion to traditional coils done. From doing a bit of reading the original air systems aren't actually that complex and are fairly straight forward to get sorted. I'm quite happy to work on a vehicle and have the space & acces to ramps to make it easier.
What I want to know is anyone come across any articles/vids or have any experience of putting the air system back in a vehicle?
I have a specific car I'm looking at at the moment and just waiting for the owner to get back on the extent of the coil conversion that's been done. Trying to find out if all components have been removed or if he still has parts etc. I'll have a better idea of the costs I'm looking at then.
Any thoughts on putting it back are welcome (apart from don't do it! Already convinced myself its the way I want to go!)
Cheers
James

Because ultimately it's better, when you get it working properly and I also want to have a car that's in original spec. The particular car I'm looking at is in an unusual colour (Niagra Grey, genuine colour but I've never seen one in this colour) and ticks the box in lots of other areas apart from the coil conversion.
The air suspension is one of those mythical beasts that has grown a reputation, probably unfairly like all TVR's break down, all L322 gearboxes fail and all Italian cars are rusty etc.
Reality is if you maintain it properly then it gives a nicer ride + the adjustable height. There's also some pretty poor coil conversions out there that ruin the ride.
I'm waiting on more info from the owner on how much of the air system has been removed and details of the specifics of the coil conversion.
