For a bit of festive fun, what can you do with your watch other than just telling the time?

Here's my starter for 10; finding which way's North this morning in a rather featureless desert.

OK, I admit there was a gps unit and compass in the car, but this was way more fun

You can also find north using a stick and 2 stones.

Yes, but that takes all day and therefore is not very useful when you want to find your way to the nearest starbucks.

My main watch is a Casio Riseman so it gets used more for the other features than the actual time. (Timer, alarm, stopwatch, thermometer, weather prediction.)

I have an Oris with aneroid barometer to show altitude; not that accurate but a nice gimmick when flying

Mine tells me which day of the week it is. I also know when a new month is upon me when the date is displayed wrong by a day.

If you rely on a watch for date, and not a calendar, how do you know it's wrong?

Moon phase can be a very useful feature back in deepest darkest devon, where I come from. Werewolf county. Pays not to drive down slightly misty lanes when there's a full moon, definitely not if you can hear a crow cawing.

I bought one with a thermometer in it once, but the only temperature it would tell me was my own so I took it back.

I can't imagine many women thinking that was a good way to spend your money.

Just take it off for 30 minutes and hang it on your belt loop. Or if you're in a sauna, leave it on and it tells you.

The time somewhere else in the world and the date. Pretty basic stuff.

What is disappointing about being rich enough to be able to afford that is the reality that even though you may well be able to use an RM as a beater when rock climbing, you still have to take time out from your day to answer nature's calls. There's no way of speeding up the process, as if you force it, you will get piles no matter how rich and powerful you are. And if you're a twice a day person, you may well be earning £50k a week but you'll still have to go twice a day.

I suppose you could buy adult nappies or pay for a stoma but I don't see these as positive moves!
