I r thinking of selling my Prelude VTi and getting something faster... i reckon i'll have like, 10 or 12 grand

Ideas at the moment are:
Impreza, Integra Type R, BMW M3, Toyota Supra (could be a bit too OTT tho)

not too sure how much these things cost to run tho compared to my honda... anyone got any ideas? my brain hurts

Used megabirds are 0-60 in around 3 seconds for 12k ish. If you want something mildly nippy then a used evo / subaru / m3 may be enough for you with creature comforts.

Yep, 12k on a used car will piss on ANYTHING on the road within the limits of your liscence, and anything else on a twisty track. To buy anything else is a compromise.

E36 M3 Evo.

'Cheap as chips', as that bloke from bargain hunt is apt to say.

12 low class scrubbers would be faster yet. The key is to get more poke for your money. A trip up north would be rewarding in that sense.

I've just bought an E30 M3 Sport Evolution (2.5L). It cost me 12 grand. It has adjustable suspension/half roll cage/harnesses/better brakes etc. It has no sunroof, no stereo, no air con and it has cloth Recaros and wind-up windows (remember them?). In other words, great for the track. It makes 238 bhp, which is OK, but it doesn't weigh that much compared to other saloons (1200kg). It kicks the ar*e off the later E36 M3 for driver involvement / track ability. It is also rare, just 600 built. I have a standard E30 M3 for every day use, the Sport Evo is my weekend toy and track weapon. But you could use it every day.
It is way rarer and more interesting than a Jap 4x4 turbo saloon. It is the most successful touring car racer ever made too. Rear wheel drive is important for me. It exudes racing history and class.
I can't think of anything else for 12 grand that I would rather have.

£12K can buy a pretty good motor these days, a E30 M3 would be great - i would love one, your a Lucky Chap Johnny Senna, the Evo Sport is the best of the Line.

Also for around £12K is the 968 Club-Sport, which Performance Car Mag called the M3's spiritual successor.
You can get a Lancia Delta Integrale for that money too, or an Audi ur Quattro.
Get anyone of these and not only will you have something that is fast, but also very thrilling!

Toleman is right. My other choices for 12K would be a 968 CS or Integrale. I think a 968 CS with the painted bucket race seats and a cage and harnesses would be a top all-rounder as well. Like the M3, I don't think depreciation will be much of a worry any more.

I know its not a car but what about a ZX12R will do 186mph but if you get it unrestricted and it should nudge 200mph and you can get one for around £5500 its one awsome bike

How about a Lotus Elan Turbo for about £8k, or an early 90's Esprit? (Build quality not included)
An early Escort Cossie, or a late Sierra Sapphire Cossie?, RS500 cossie, Lancia Delta Integrale?, R33 Nissan Skyline 2.5 GTS Turbo?

OR.... A Vauxhall Nova SR wiv a 2.0 Calibra turbo engine in it, Innit!

I've got an integrale with some mods. I would definitely recommend it. The car is very fast and the handling is very rewarding. It is much closer to the true sports car feel than any other 4WD turbo jobby. It is also rear bias on the 4WD, which means no girly understeer. It is very well balanced, and very quick with it.

What goes fast for 12K? Try a liason with the CSA. They will make 12k go very fast, believe me from experience

I wonder if I can get 6 hookers and a Porsche 968CS?? Club Sport sounds like something you'd get 6 hookers in too.

Cheers everyone, got loads of new ideas now that I hadn't even almost thought of

Don't they fall apart? Or is that one of those rumours that aren't actually true?!
