Hello,

I don't often come this way.

I would appreciate if you could give me some advice on what watch to buy my wife for Christmas.

She likes simple designs, no bling, probably with a leather strap and I think with an automatic mechanical movement.

Price is reasonably flexible but I suppose under £1500 would be good.

Any advice welcome.

Don't assume. Women can be quite funny/savvy/mercenary about jewellery. I would ask her what she wants, or take her to choose it.

Already had the conversation in principle, thanks. But my wife knows even less about watches than I do, so even if we do decide to go together, it would be nice to have a shortlist.

More and more women are wearing the smaller sized gents watches. What about a 60-70s datejust?

Her existing watch is similar to the top one, Don't think it's a Cartier, though. Possibly a Seiko...

Longines Master Stainless Steel Automatic Ladies Watch L2.128.4.78.3

I quite like the look of this one.

Anyone got an opinion on the quality, rather than the looks?
