All,

Anybody got any experience of the 1.3 multijet fitted in the Fiat 500? Looking at 2010 onwards 95ps model.

Girlfriend is finally doing her driving licence and wants a 500, she was looking at the baby petrol engines, My second car was a 1.4TDI VAG which was very good (after it was mapped) compared to the Fiat 1.2 16v I had first. so I'm swaying towards the little 1.3 and getting it mapped to make it a little better.

Insurance quotes have been done and its right on the money for what we wanted to pay. looking at the "sport" model which seems to be a lot better specced that the pop model.

I can only comment on the engine, having the 1.3MJ in my 08 Panda. Mine has been mapped to 95PS as well and had a life of spirited driving. The engine is amazing, pulls well and in the small car easily able to emabarrass or surprise bigger stuff. Small is definitely NOT slow!
Only gripe (after 112,000+ miles) is the tendency for the turbo wastegate to foul up and sieze every 50k miles or so. This causes engine light to come on and the car to go into limp mode. If it happens, it's £150 to have the turbo removed and cleaned or £500 for a new turbo fitted.

Glow plugs need changing about 60-80k miles. I bought the plugs from Eurocarparts for £40 and it was an hour-ish for me to change them. Expect to pay £100 at a garage.
