I had to go to Barnard Castle on Thursday and as I didn't need to haul anything I went in the Tiv. A 60 mile round trip turned into a much longer one as I came back through the Stang Forest and Reeth via Langthwaite and then along the tank road to Catterick before dropping back down.

What fantastic roads and what amazing views! From the A66 until Reeth (about 12 miles) I only saw three other cars and two of those were parked. I haven't driven this road for ages and I'd forgotten how good it is.

And to think for years I lived in the south east..........................

True. I took my little lad to Jervaulx yesterday for Brymor's ice cream. Came out of Leyburn and dropped down onto that marvellous road.
Without having to go quickly, you can safely enjoy yourself on that road whilst enjoying the noise bounce off the dry stone walls
(apart from that bridge at East Witton where some wagon driver didn't realise you have to slow right down)
Even the local TrafPol in their green/black/funny coloured thingy were having a day out enjoying the sun.
I might have a ride over to Coverdale this week on the bike.

Hi
Couldn't resist a blast up the B1363 Helmesley to Stokesly yesterday, bit bumpy in places but sensational non-the-less.
Long live Road Angel.
Long live Yorkshire.

I really like coming off the A1 and taking the road to Masham, then heading cross country to Harrogate, before turning off the A61 towards Otley and finally heading into Pool. The last part of the trip involves the airport tunnels , nice.

Its one of the TVRCC West Lancs region's fav roads.

There are long sections with lots of curves where you can see the road is clear for miles, in fact we will be using it again on our run out in April.

Sounds like a very familiar route Martyn and a very good one at that
