Ok, so Lambo UK are advertising the following offer (roughly) in Top Marques recently:

2004 Gallardo, Advertised price of £115k.
You pay £25k deposit, and then pay £850pcm for 12 months.
At the end of 12 months you pay a guaranteed £90k for the car (or just give the car back).

Now after 12 months, £90k is about all you're going to get at trade value for the Gallardo, hence you'll probably just return the car. So its very similar to hiring for a year.

However: you have spent £25k plus 12 * £850 = £35k in one year.

Wow.

Same can be said of any finance package. However, this is not the same as hiring it. Consider running and maintenance costs, hirer profit and contingencies, as well as the insurance premium (and excess). I would be surprised if you found anyone prepared to hire out a Gallardo for £3k a week, let alone £3k a month.

The daily rate (outside the UK) to hire a Gallardo is about £1100 a day from what I can see. The excess is a serious 5 figure amount.

So maybe not a great deal, but a lot cheaper than hiring one over the same period.

Cheaper than owning one too if the wheels come off the residuals.

If only!
Still 35k for a years hire is a reasonable 670 per week...... Think I'll wait until they're nearer 50k for a LHD, could be one of these or a Gransport for me next year

Sounds too good to be true £25k deposit and 850pcm for a year, £96 a day. The £25k seems to be the expected depreciation value.

Thats exactly what it is mate. The £850pcm is purely the interest on the remaining £90k you owe them.

£35K for a years "ownership".. if I were interested in getting a new Gallardo I'd take them up on it.

I can't see a dealer offering you more than £80K in early 2006 for a used one.

That was on an interest rate of around 11%-12% too. I'm sure you'll be able to knock them down on that, and get the monthly payments to aroun £700.

That would still make it £32,000 a year right ?

hehe, I think I'd rather buy £125K Murcielago and take my chances..

.. or set fire to piles of £10 notes every week..

My Murcie cost me 30k deposit, bout £1500 a month for 3 yrs with a £125k balloon, on a £172k price - so if the car isnt worth £125k after 3 years (no way at the mileage I do) its time to remortgage another house to find the difference.

But the thing is its worth it cos I love it. I dont care that it'll cost £200k if I keep the agreement running to the end, cos that car more than anything else motivates me to work harder, cos I know i'll lose it if I don't. After another sh*it day it makes me jump up and down when I see it, it pulls birds like i've never experienced in my life (and I ain't Brad Pitt),but the thrill of seeing it parked on the drive is fab.

I don't think you can put a monetary value on some things in life, including owning a supercar because the spin off benefits I describe, even considering the odd sleepless night - is well worth it.

Wow, thats refreshingly reasonable, but I suppose its all down to the Final Valuation as you say..

still, its a very cheap way to own a Hypercar for 3 years.

/me goes off to ponder.

That is odd you should say that. I was sat in a bar in Leeds when a bright green Murcie on an 04 reg plate pulled up outside - it was'nt the sickly green more a pearl green, but difficult to see in the light mate. Be interested to know whose it is. Theres a 54 plate in dark grey knocking about Leeds - LUFC player so i'm told. Dewsbury eh? Grew up there - not a nice place anymore feel very uncomfortable driving the Murcie through there to see the parents. I bet your'e going to tell me you live there now!!
