My wife bought me a watch for my birthday last week, a Seiko Sportura SNAE95P1. I really like it and it is a nice addition to my collection. However she bought it from a local jeweler for probably list price, which is bothering me, because it is a discontinued watch. I need to pop into the jewelers get a few links taken out of the bracelet. Should I say something about selling old stock, or should I just look happy? I do prefer it to the current Sportura models, but just a bit miffed about paying over the odds.

Just appreciate the gift for what it is, a gift from your wife.
If you start questioning the price, or whether it was a good deal, you'll come across as ungrateful for your wife's efforts in getting you the present in the first place

By all means be bothered - nobody likes paying over the odds - but maybe keep it to yourself and enjoy the watch which your wife chose.

As for the jeweller, well, they have a living to make - nobody says they have to discount discontinued items if they think they can get rid of them at a good price.

It was a gift (or did YOU pay for it, in fact? biggrin), so stop looking it in the mouth and be grateful!

Thanks for setting me straight guys. It is my money at the end of the day, but you are right feelings are more important, and I do really like it!

The quality remains long after the price is forgotten.....
