Dilemma ... I sold an Aston V8 vantage to buy a practical 997 turbo that I could use more often and in most situations (I commute so don't use my car for work, it really isn't used much. As a result I really wanted to move to one car!). After an awful lot of hunting I bought a beautiful 45k mile 1 owner perfect history manual 997 turbo. Unfortunately having found such a clean example and having had it detailed so that it is flawless it has gone to second car status!

Sooo .... if I'm going to run two cars, then my heart is saying I should go back to Ferrari (I've had a few over the years and keep going back to them!). A 430 spider is calling me.

The 997T is a better car in virtually every way and is definitely the most logical choice, but the Ferrari is just so special!

Please talk me out of changing it ....

I think the 430 is quite ugly.

Have you considered a Gallardo?

my 997T is the perfect one car choice, if you don't need the rear seats and have another car there may be better choices for a purely weekend fun car, despite the brilliance of the 997 turbo

Your 997 looks like a really super example OP. Wouldn't be surprised if you've made a few quid there if you decide to sell it on. For me it would be the Fezza all day long as a weekend car. I'd personally go for a manual coupe as they look much nicer to my eye.

Trev450, the Gallardo is a lovely car, but for me I've always been a huge Ferrari lover.

9e28, although the turbo has gone up, so has the Ferrari, so sadly cancels out the benefit!

There is just something about the look and sound of a red ferrari. Although I like the gate shift on the Ferrari, ever since owning the aston I'm a massive fan of paddles, so would prefer an F1, but I'd buy either. Pref a spider, but again I'd consider a coupe. I love the idea of a black one, but i know when I see them in real life I won't be able to resist red (three times I've gone out to buy black and come back with red! Lol).

Biggest problem is that having owned several Ferraris they are so impractical, being only two seats (I've tried to love the Cali, but it's just not for me) and drawing a lot of attention!

The turbo is a great all rounder and it has really impressed me (more than I expected). I don't want to sell and then have to find another, as it was a total pig to find in the first place! Plus the running costs for 430 posted on here look horrific; which is strange considering my 348/355/360's were all relatively cheap to run.

Winter always tempts me to sell as its that time of year when I don't use it much ... Think I better get out in it on my favourite roads whilst the sun is out to get rid of the "sell" thoughts!

I'm not sure where that is coming from, because as you are no doubt aware, the 430 doesn't require the ridiculously costly engine removal/cambelt change service as the 355 does. And although the 430 does suffer from holed exhaust headers, they only need to be replaced once with something like Larini's and they're good for life.
