Whats the waiting time on a 430 now ?

How much deposit are dealers after to secure a car ?

How much premium would I have to pay if I can't wait !

Thanks

I was informed the waiting list was 4 years when I placed a deposit last November. The deposit is £5000 with a further £5000 a year from build btw.

But if they made 10k 430s a year they'd depreciate like a stone. The reason Ferraris keep their value better than others is the rarity.

Go with Porsche and you'll get a car quicker and for less, but you might end up losing more in depreciation

I know what you mean about the lack of supply holding up values for current owners - I would wait up to say a year and that would still help resale values as there will always be a footballer etc. who won't want to wait 5mins ! - but 3-4 years is just silly they are going to loose customers to other marques at that rate.

I can't be sure what my situation will be in 4 years - who can ? you could be divorced banckrupt or even dead by then !

How can I be confident that I can still afford one in 4 years time ? Or something I want even more may come along in that time ?

None of that is Ferrari's problem is it?

Also, the situation is arguably better now than it was before as they are making more cars now (quite a lot more).

If you want a car baldy enough, you'll wait or find some other means of acquisition. Ferrari know this. And until you've owned one, you'll miss getting to know "that" feeling (it's not purely about the speed).

Getting known at a dealer can often help (as they order cars for "themselves" I believe). If you like some of the other models, why not get your name on the list at a dealer and get a "fix" on another model (360, 550, 355 etc). You may then get a shout at a 430 earlier than you initially thought.

And if you don't, you'll still have owned a great car that, frankly, still has a good deal more "wow factor" than a 997 (no disrespect to Pork owners, they're great cars) even though it's not the latest and "greatest".

Question is, do you *want* a Ferrari, or do you want a new fast car?

I think it is ferrari's problem really.

If customers of my company were looking at our competitors to supply them because I couldn't then my company would definately have a problem. - If not short term - long term it would catch up.

I don't think any company in the world can ever afford to turn customers away.

Only time will tell. But Ferrari have a very privelaged position right now, and despite plenty of new entrants into the market are still looking pretty strong.

I'm not sure that anyone truly desiring a 430 would look at a 997 as a true alternative. Stop gap maybe, or addition perhaps. But not instead of.

There will inevitably be one or two people who can't be arsed waiting and may shop elsewhere. But that's always been the case - it's why Lamborghini started making sports cars (give or take a bit of poetic license).
