Ferrari F12 TDF - Prospective owners/Chats/Specs
Discussion
On behalf of a Mr Camlet, and Highjacking other super car threads, Im opening this in the hope of upcoming F12 TDF owners can discuss specs/ chat about the car without impeding too much on other threads.
Cant wait to see what owners are wanting to spec. But having a conversation with a friend it seems that the UK (and FNE) haven't got the allocation we deserve (and he's currently licking his wounds as he couldnt get one!). UK is apparently getting about 50 cars rather than the 78-80 or more we should have
Im hoping some owners are going for some crazy combinations, and some more classic/reserved specs.

I went in to have a chat with my dealer the other day and he invited me to have a play round on the configurator. I think he was trying to torture me as we didn't have a shot at getting on that list
I love it in silver though, I think this car is going to look amazing in the flesh and even more so in the more restrained colours. It would be nice if they were to do a little F12M send off for the F12 with some of these styling cues and a bit more availability.
Sitting in one of their regular F12s though I was surprised about the lack of cabin length. Anything but the seat all the way back had my legs too bunched up and then being all the way back didn't have the back angle for me and my head was mm under the headlining and I am under 6 foot. I have this issue in our 575 but I would have have thought they'd have a bit more room these days. I'm sure I could live with it though

Thanks Matt. Z, I doubt there will be a F12M. But keep pushing your dealer for a TDF. I'm not convinced all 799 examples are allocated, a second batch at some point covering the remaining cars possible. The car promises to be remarkably quick and agile.
Yup, I'm hoping there is a 2nd batch, however I know FNE were fuming with Head office as they didn't get anywhere near the allocation we should have. The UK market is about 10% of worldwide which would generally dictate we get 10% e.g. 79 cars, but I know the UK are supposedly getting about 50 with a max of 4 cars per dealer... (this is just what I'm told).
I keep telling my friend to stay on top of FNE - as such he's off to spec another car next month just praying that FNE will play ball with him - he doesnt have anything 'limited' as yet though so I guess this makes it slightly trickier?
I think the dealers have greater influence than they let on, so push them hard. For sure allocations are restricted, it's good marketing after all, but when I bought my F50 from another Ferrari dealer, my regular dealer created new opportunities like over night. On the TDF and one other. I'm not saying go buy an F50 (though it's a kinda cool car if you can
) but I don't think my inclusion for the TDF is a coincidence. NZ might be a far from Maranello but your rugby team kicks global arse so go for it! When Ferrari presented the TDF to us at the Factory they went over-board with the mechanical briefing, most it unfortunately was beyond me. This was marketing again but it's clear the F12 has been heavily worked on - all aspects - to create the TDF and it represents the pinnacle of Ferari's NA V12 history. As for colours the two guys with me went for Ferro and Rosso Fuoco respectively. Both are good choices, the triple yellow up close was for the three of us headache inducing because of the huge amount of detail on the car (carbon, vents, winglets and scoops). I've seen several renders in TDF blue, Fuji white and they look good too. Black seems to be popular but for me seems a shame to mask the detail.

The Evo and Autocar reviews are interesting, and similar thoughts.
If Bovingdon and Prior are struggling to get to grips with them I wonder how quickly the owners will. It does seem to be something you have to be delicate and smooth in driving or it can be edgy/spiky.
The GT3 RS with it's wider front tyres has been described as sometimes have a bit of an edge too. Even if I had the money I don't think I'd have the talent for either to do them proper justice.

Thanks mate, the reports certainly bode well. I like it the journos were unable to just step inside and punish it, that the TDF's character needs to be explored. The first time I drove an F40 my heart rate was off the scale. Sounds like the TDF shares some of that DNA, and that's very exciting.Evos Piece - It certainly bodes well!!! My only "problem" is I'm bouncing between specs. I have my Plan A above but having seen the RC cars at Mugello, I'm now thinking Rosso Corsa. Or Titanio or others. It's a hard car to spec because of its emerging extreme/hardcore character and its busy bodywork. In the scheme of other things the challenges are very trivial.

Hmmm, I think corsa for me personally would be a bit of a default (read boring) choice. My only "problem" is I'm bouncing between specs. Id prefer something different. I like the idea of bianco fuji with blue or red carbon - but that won't appeal to many.
I think the colour of a car is a very personal thing - and on a car like that there are so many options available.
I wouldn't mind something like Rosso Fuoco/Maranello (metallic) red but wouldn't want a 'flat' red.
I also think the reviews indicate that it may be a proper 'drivers' car, something you have to learn - and if you're not careful will bite and spit you out (like an f40/cgt etc). I think its also a car thats really grabbed petrol heads - and as much as I like the 675LT I wouldn't even go near it over something like a TDF, that just looks and sounds so special.
I think ferrari have nailed it. If this is the last v12 hoorah - then its bloody worth it.
Im a very jealous young man Camlet. I shall think of you while Im off skiing (and working) for 6months getting away from the real world!
