Anyone got any opinions on the CS. Have been looking around at second hand models which seem to be anywhere from £ 120k to almost £ 140k presently. Is it worth waiting for F430 instead which will be around the same price and will rarity value be a good or bad thing in future ??? ---

i'm not a rari owner so ignore me on this one... but...

there seem to be plenty of 360CS's about... the rarity value seems to have gone out of the window as the prices are now down near list.

from what i have heard and read of the F430, it will be streets ahead of the 360 and that includes the CS... okay, so it won't be as exclusive as the CS BUT it will be much more advanced in all respects.

Very few cars are better in their old incarnations (perhaps porsche 993 and 996 or elise S1 and S2 excepting! lol)

I think this is a bit too simplistic. It depends on what you define "better" as.

And it wouldn't take too long to come up with a list as long as your arm of earlier generation cars that are widely regarded as "better" than their successors (on top of those you mention).

Peugeot 205/206? Escort MkII/MkIII? BMW M3 E30/E36 (think they're the relevant numbers)? Toyota MR2 mkI/mkII? Mazda MX5 mkI/mkII? And that's without getting too far into the grey area of subjectivity, or trying very hard at all.

That said, I would be inclined to hold on this one if it were me buying a car of this type at this money. The 430 is going to have some sort of impact, but I don't think it'll be felt properly for another 12mths. I do have a feeling that CS's will start to drop cash (though the rarity factor will inevitably help).

That said, I love the CS. Was never a fan of the standard car, but the CS is a top class machine. Still prefer the styling of the 355 though

whats the closest model of a 360 CS for the 355 ?
(sorry bit of thread hi-jacking and purely out of interest!)

They did a 355 Challenge, or a Fiorano handling pack on the last of the 355s. There isnt any real comparison tho'

I have a 360 CS and it is sensational. According to my stealer it still laps a few seconds faster at Fiorano than the 430. It depends on what you want from a car. The CS is not a pleasant place to be. Think the difference between a 996 GT3 RS and a 996 Turbo and that is probably the same as the difference between a CS and a 430 (or a standard 360). It is the closest thing to a tintop race car on the road and is awesome on track too. The brakes are astonishing, even compared to a race car. But it is expensive to run. Having said that, the MPG is better than my X5 4.8is!
