GT Shake-up Needed

The British GT series can't attract a sponsor, gets small crowds yet features some thrilling racing - what's going on?

I agree with what you are saying, diluation of grids just makes things confusing for everyone and for drivers in the lower class it makes it less enjoyable as a good race can be ruined by having to allow faster cars through. Most of the serious teams in GT2 can compete competitivly in the international arena and perhaps thats the best place for them.

Yep agree with you Ted, as a motoring spectacle it's not the most exciting format at the moment which is a shame because these cars should produce a race series that set your pants alight.

With the small numbers of entries in each class, it must be difficult to come up with a format that works though.

Bah humbug.

Must cost a packet to run a GT car for a season - and with the current economic climate, corporate sponsorship must be at a low.

I don't think the gate money contributes a huge amount to the sport - even if you got 5000 spectators at £20/head, thats £100,000 for a meet - but take off all the costs for running the meet, facilities, etc, and there's not a lot of margin.

What we really need is another Internet bubble, get out with the money when the going is good to start your own GT team
