It'll be interesting to see how they do from an actual sale price instead of (maybe) dreamy advert prices.

Was at Maranello Saturday still musing over jumping from GT2 -> 458 and saw what I think must be the blandest Ferrari ever, black with black and no carbon inside at all. Salesman of course described it as "less is more". I imagine he must have said exactly the same thing to the guy he bought it off, how much more desirable the car is with no options smile

Gotta love salesmen...

I'll tell you what though, the freshly polished GT2 looked very much at home and comfortable parked alongside the Ferraris, small and understated yet you know it means business.

Well my 996 in Polar looks understated haha, especially next to red and yellow Ferraris (the black one excepted)

That white 997 is awesome!

We've organised a GT2 morning at the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone this Saturday morning, around 15 cars on the list so far, be good if you can make it supermono, same goes for any other owners not already signed up.

It's essentially a bunch of GT2 owners looking at their own cars in a car park but we get free tea and coffee and access to the auction preview so should be good morning.

Potentially Jason will bid up the GT2's and create a buying frenzy

laughlaughlaughlaugh This has always been my experience of car meets, I'm not sure what I'm expecting really but I always seem to leave a bit underwhelmed.

I'll see what I can do but at the moment my plans revolve around seeing the offspring in Norfolk. Shame because I wanted to go to the auction too and thanks for the invitation!

So how was the meet?? And what about the auction? Any idea what sort of money these GT2s made?

I think the reserves were too high. The 997 GT2 sold for £115,000 inc BP.

Yep, looks that way. It's good to get some sort of science into the mix, still people are prepared to pay 80+k for these cars which is getting more like it. Better than fantasising with no actual sales figures to back it up.

The 997 was a LHD from Dubai, so went for strong money I reckon.

The 996s were a mixed bag, one was a well known car and the other looked in good order, I thought it would have sold but then at 90k I think it's still great money considering where they were a few years ago, owners need to be more realistic.

I think where they sold was realistic numbers good for both buyers and sellers.

Dealers asking 150k are clearly smoking something

I've had my official replacement insurance valuation through at £125k which seems about right. Not quite sure where that values the car in terms of resale from my point of view, but I think it'd be near impossible to buy one these days for much less.

Mind you whenever its cover is removed and I hear that barking exhaust as I turn the key and drive it carefully out of the garage for a blast, "resale" seems to go out of my mind smile

One of them was my old GT2. It definitely didn't sell in the end then? Looks like I got out at the right time.

8 months, 6k miles, a lot of fun and I got paid a lot of money for the pleasure.

steady on old chap I almost choked on my latte after reading that.

The paragon 'random number' generator is in full affect I see.
