Any opinions on these fellas? Seem like good value but I have no knowledge on the quality of the movement.

Well it's an ETA movement and the mechanical ETA movements i own are excellent. It seems too that there is at least one happy camper out there: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f62/eta-g10-211-movem... So i doubt there're many issues on that front.

Having said that, would i spend £315 or so on a quartz watch? No. Or at least, not again hehe

Never heard of them.
A quick google on the G10.211 shows that it is a 4 jewel quartz lump from the "fashion line" range. It is not repairable, it's a throwaway item. Towards the lower end of ETAs movements.

At least if it fails you only need to spend £35 on a new movement. Seems poor value for something with mineral glass, a crap PU leather strap and a cheap quartz movement.

I agree about the poor value. Once you're over the £300 mark, then you're starting to reach all sorts of interesting options. Steinhart, Tissot, Orient Star, Seiko and plenty more could offer more watch for this sort of money.

Looking at the website descriptions I was getting the impression it was somehow a quartz movement for the chrono and a mech one for the watch but this is most likely my mistake, I'm no watch expert so I don't even know if such hybrid arrangements exist.

That does exist, but this watch doesn't have it. Google "Mecaquartz" for enough information to fill several pairs of your boots.
