Has anyone see the vid to this? No big battery packs and no cables or wires. Loving it! (Cant afford it though) lol

Wireless is clearly the next stage of evolution of e-gears

I am surprised by the claimed battery life - A CR2032 isn't that powerful and I wonder if that is optmistic?

Sounds plausible to me. They're only transmitting signals, and only then when you change gear.

Think of your cadence and speed sensors. They most likely use CR2032 batteries and they're transmitting all the time you're riding. Their batteries last a good while.

Just think in two years time we might have that on mountain bikes as well, no wires to get caught in the undergrowth, no cables to fill up with muck, I'm liking the idea of that. It's not cheap but it's got to filter down surely over time. How long till 105 di2?

Surprised it actually looks decent. Wasn't sold on the wireless idea before, and to a degree still not, but it seem to make sense as long as there a no issues with it losing signal, ever.

Providing no warranty issues, could be a genuine alternative to Di2 in a year or so when the price comes down.

true enough, it is only in the derailleurs where a bit of oomph is needed to actually do any work

That's right. The mechs have (relatively) big Li-ion batteries that you can unclip to recharge.

A nice touch is that those are interchangeable, so if you keep forgetting to recharge after a succession of rides and the rear goes flat out on the road (and the chances are it'd be the rear since that's the one you do the lion's share of your shifting with) you just can swap the battery packs around to retain use of your cassette and forgo changing chain rings instead.

I have a camera remote that uses a cr2032 lasts ages/years
