Croft trackday dates.

Hi all you northern enthusiasts! Oue Croft trackday dates are Wednesday 27th April and Wednesday 27th July. Usual format, lots of track time, instruction available, workshop support etc. Numbers will be limited due to only allowing 15 cars on track at any one time. First preference to TVR and Noble cars but may be able to squeeze some other marques in subject to take up (And being slower than us!!) Contact Jill on 01434 601666. Thanks

I've always had a problem with these HHC Croft Trackdays because they cost more than I'd expect. These are £199 and that's on a less favourable weekday. Most tracks do weekdays for £99 and Croft is only £160 for a weekend day with an instructor per group.

Is there something I've missed?

nope, that's what I noticed. get yourself down to donington for the *full GP track* for the whole day, open pit lane for just £95. and there's an instructor if you want one. tell me how it can get better than that!

Well I suppose if, just for instance, someone's ECU worked out of it's socket and caused their TVR to stop dead on track, one of HHC's engineers might be able fix it. Some people might find that useful.

Oh and to see a track full of TVRs and blag a ride or two in a faster TVR than mine, I like that bit. Last ones were open pit lane too, I don't know if this years will be though. Whether that (and lunch) is worth the extra dosh, you may have a point.

If my diary permits, I'll be there for at least one of them. Your old wheels need an outing soon anyway

If it's not open pit lane then that won't be quite as good - but as you say with croft, open pit lane is probably a thing of the past there. Should still be able to blag a few rides though!

I agree the price is more than normal. I've only done 2 trackdays - 1 HHC and the open Croft with NEPH, and I've thourghly enjoyed both. For me, being a TVR fan, the HHC one was great, YMMV.

As I said I'll go if I'm able, but I'm not disagreeing with you on the price.

Minimax, you're a financial advisor so you'll proabably understand the economics. They need to cover their costs. (I suspect that some years they struggle to do that)

Organising track days is not their core business and they dont organise them with the sole intention of making money. I'm also fairly certain that as a business they won't feel comfortable blowing money. To start and reduce costs they would need to open up to more marques I suspect.

Personaly I find it nice to attend track days with a limited marque attendance. Track days heavily populated by the normal heroes in Caterfields, Evos, Scoobies, M3s etc I do not find enjoyable.

Not sure your advice is fair or based on experience of one of their track days.

I think it is very bold and brave of Tony and HHC to put on 2 track days in a year. How many other performance car garages in the North do you know that are willing to organise these events?

Cost is a huge factor in the calculation of Track hire against number of people participating, and there is also personal liability and insurance to take into account. I don't see this as a profit making event for HHC, it's more like a marketing investment.

If you want a cheaper track day (and there are many), you pay's the price and take a chance of mixing with the all types of cars and driver ability.

I'm happy to pay a little more and support the Noble marque in the North and mix with other sports car enthusiasts.

How many other Noble owners coming to the April event?

I understand that, but personally owning a Ginetta I probably never will be able to do single marque trackdays so I've grown to accept it I know that it's probably a good day and well managed etc but if I can go to donington on a full GP circuit open pit day for £95 with another reputable company then that's where i'd rather go I just don't see the added value

I'm sorry if people feel that it's beyond their reach financially. We have to pay Croft a large amount of money for exclusive hire, and I suppose that is the point. We are not asking folks to come along to 'mix it' with another 90 odd cars. We will have thirty to thirty five cars there all driven by people who appreciate what they and other people have got. We will have fifteen cars out on track at any one time and will give you 20 minute sessions per group. This should give you anything up to 3 hours on track! From my experience of a variety of trackdays this is plenty of quality time in a very safe environment. I hope that this gives people slightly more insight into what we are doing.Best regards, Tony

I actually enjoy mixing it with other makes. More to the point, I need them out there so that my little 4ltr Chimaera can actually overtake cars. If the field consisted of Tuscan's, T350's etc. then my old car would be put to shame.

Bob, it's often not the car but the driver that can make all the difference!! A 4.0 litre car would be no disgrace around Croft especially with those 16" spiders and bigger brakes!!
As regards other comments regarding me 'throwing down the gauntlet', it was said in jest as we would hate for all these 4wd turbo abs supercars to show us up in the rain!! Thanks and best regards, Tony
