We've got a Cayman coming next month and from what the OPC told me last month the interest and orders of current 991.1s has increased considerably over the last few months as it is widely believed that these will the last normal 911s that will be normally aspirated. Current thinking is you'd be lucky to find a build slot let alone a discount .

I've been exploring the possibility of a new 991 GTS having it suggested that I try one while my old 991 was in for a service (that old trick!) and it's a hell of a different machine to my 2012 C2S. The downside is that there aren't (at that time a week ago) any factory build slots left, but an email yesterday to be told that they have been given one last slot and would I like it? No discount, but they don't think they'll have any trouble selling it. The GTS is a great package and the new facelift, turbo engine really doesn't appeal, so will need to decide by the time they open tomorrow morning. headache

Haha that old chestnut. Tell them that you haven't just come down the Clyde on a banana boat. They are extracting the urine I would say.

Yes, I did call some other OPCs to check and they really are that rare. I was offered a 911 Black Edition, but that going backwards to what I already have.

The alternative was a rather fetching silver used 991 Turbo S coupe for 'just a little more' at £115k.... Do I really need to go that fast?

Do it! (Easy to say when it's not my money). If I had the spare cash I would be there in a shot as The GTS is a lovely car and the last of the NA's. A winner imo. Just make sure you order it in manual & then I can buy it in a couple of years after you've run it in for me. ;-D

Some suggestion that the 991 Gen 2 GTS will not go turbo and therefore current GTS will not be the last of the N/A

Would make sense if they wanted to give the GTS brand a more driver-focussed identity. Hopefully they'll do it for the 981.2 as well

Pleased to hear that the flat six isn't going away this generation.
I suspeccted this, it makes too much sense for Porsche to keep the DFI block around for various specials and "halo cars" while most standard cars will get the smaller turbos to keep CO2 low.

yes we can but hope! Having enjoyed my BGTS on track yesterday enormously in large part because of the engine, I'll be very sorry if we don't see a NA (non GT3) car available.

On a side note, I think I've encountered only the third 4-pot engine in the world I've actually liked (first being the Clio 172/182 lump, second being the S2000 unit): the 2 litre duratec in my friends Caterham R500. It vibrates/shakes the sh*t out of you, but it sounds really angry and there's something quite nice about an engine that's been taken to the extreme for a sole purpose!
