ferrari dealer in Surrey - courtesy car?
Discussion
Guys,
Gonna drop the MAserati into my dealer tomorrow am for service. They've offered me an S Class as a courtesy car. Fine I think. However, just got a call from them leaving me the details of the courtesy car, telling me I'll need them to arrange my insurance!!!
Is this standard practice?
Seems crazy that you have to arrange your own insurance for a courtesy car!!

well all sorted anyway, got myselv a brand spanking new Derv burning S class for the weekend
(caused consternation at Tesco as it was valued at more than the Mas but they eventually covered it for gratis for the weekend !)
Weird situation, never previously have I insured my own courtesy car, but seeing as it was free to do, and minimum hassle, I don't see a problem.

The ever spiralling cost of proper motor trade insurance has made garage owners look into ways to reduce premiums. Removing courtesy car insurance being one of them.
Allied to this, as insurance companies look to reducing their own exposure, then quite a number are now no longer even offering all encompassing motor trade policies. As a result the motor trader has a dwindling number of options for that type of insurance policy.

Sounds like you've done well to get it covered by your insurer gratis.
Tha magic words - may I speak with your supervisor for one second - can often help there.
Interesting how this has changed. Previously I've happily dropped the car off with the dealer and toddled off to work on the train as per usual anyway. This time as I'm getting it done at the weekend I needed another car to get to Silverstone for the Eurohoon bash. Should have asked for the Gransport demonstrator instead - doh!
