So I have recently sold my 996 C4S cabriolet that I had for a few years and I thought I didn't need the car as it was rarely used but I find myself looking again at 911's.

The question is what to buy?! I am thinking of maybe a 997 C4S hardtop. Has anyone made the trade up and is it worth the extra money given that prices will probably slide and the 996 will hold firm or do I try and find a nice low mileage 996 turbo for the same money as the 997 but I quite like the thought of a newer style interior

The other option is a much newer Cayman S just to fulfil the Porsche need on a weekend?

Budget up to 35k

Any suggestions?

Well £35k is only 997.1 money, rather than Gen 2. I'd go for a 996 turbo! wink

Do you really need 4WD for a weekend car? Especially as the 997 C4S is pretty much the same as a C2S, which obviously wasn't the case for the 996.

I vote for a 997.1 C2/C2S or a Gen 2 which you might just be able to stretch to...

You should see a Gen 2 2WD for a just a bit more.

Thanks guys, I did think Cayman R but they all seem to start at 40k!

I went for the 996 c4s given the reasons of it being so much better than a c2s.

Are there any big differences between 997 c2s and c4s other than 4wd?

If you need 4WD, I hear that Land Rover Defenders are quite good.

I'd want the PSE, and those wheels are not nice.
I don`t mind the wheels but to add the better options the price goes up and the OP`s budget is basically what that is. Still, it`s a low owner. low miles Gen 2 car.
