Drive shaft failure?
Discussion
Has anyone ever experienced a drive shaft failure on a metric S3 chassis car? Both mine are showing signs of wear on the inner CV joints. They seem to be serviceable and well balanced, just a lot more play than I remember. I'm running about 270 BHP on track, so not totally unexpected, but just wondered if they are likely to fail suddenly, or if they give you plenty of warning.

I replaced one of mine last winter. It turned out that the needle bearings on one of the lobes had completely disintegrated.
It was making a clonking noise every time I pulled away and on jacking the rear and rocking the wheel there was quite a bit of vertical movement in the driveshaft.
