Are there any Ferrari magazines available in the UK that are about the road cars themselves? (A bit like “911 & Porsche World”) I’d like to read up more on the older models (70’s to 90’s – not the priceless classics) and the trials and tribulations of ownership without having half a mil Enzo’s and the exploits of Herr Schumacher and the F1 team rammed down my throat.

On the same note is it possible to join the owners club without owning a car? Following the owners club link on www.ferrari.co.uk/ I just get a login in screen and no instructions on how to join.

Not seen anything that matches the profile of the specialist Porsche magazines. The closest I can think of is Auto Italia. I took this for a while, but it was a bit too fluffy for my tastes.

You can join the UK FOC via something called the Prancing Horse Register. There are very few club activities that you can't do by being a PHR member (can't think of one actually), and there are many really fun people who are associated this way. PHR membership is around £20 I think, versus £70 (and a Ferrari) for full membership; this has prompted at least one owner, of legendary tightness (well it is legendary now) to join PHR instead.

The link to check out is www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk You get a monthly magazine and can subscribe to a quarterly glossy; in both the emphasis is on newsflow and club activities, but there are articles about the classic models. The best source of info is the membership.

You could try www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/

Non owners are allowed (I am a member).

I am not sure if the magazine content would suit you as there is F1 information etc, they do include car information though and other interesting articles. Might be worth making an enquiry anyway.

Forza. A US based magazine but you can subscribe to it and it may be available in some shops. It's in most airports too.

would that be a certain slim line Yorkshireman that believes anything less than 12 cylinders, in the rear, is outright sacriledge by any chance Kevin?

Thanks for the feedback folks. PHR application is now in the post (FYI it was £23 for the membership and £26 for the magazine).

I picked up a copy of Auto Italia at my local airport. It looks like an interesting flick through but not enough Ferrari focus for me.

I couldn’t find a copy of Forza but subscription details are on their web site: www.forza-mag.com/. I might just plump for a subscription.

I joined the PHR before I was able to join as a full member. I think that about the only thing PHR cannot do is take part in circuit driving although they can attend and normally take care of the marshalling.

FWTW I think that it was reasonable value but you do have to pay extra for the glossy mag.

Cavallino is still published www.cavallino.com/
Forza is excellent as well - Borders stock it around here. I'm also a member of the FOC - the bit for non owners is called the Prancing Horse register - the quarterly glossy mag is excellent..
